Interested in lovely views, walks, ruins, nice beaches.

Tenby, hands down.

SaladRoger · 17/08/2025 18:08

The coastal path around at David's and much of Pembrokeshire is fantastic, as are the beaches.
I haven't been to Tenby.

Netcam · 17/08/2025 18:16

We just got back from a week in Snowdonia and a week in Pembrokeshire. Both were lovely. We stayed on the coast at Freshwater East, the coastal walk from there to Barafundel bay was beautiful, as was a similar walk in the other direction. Tenby was also really pretty, though busier.

Lund · 17/08/2025 18:24

You could literally go anywhere in Pembs to get those things- more a question of if you want to be in a busy town with pubs, cafes, shops etc or somewhere more remote? My favourite is Saundersfoot which is a large village with a few shops and places to eat right by a really lovely beach.

BadgerFace · 17/08/2025 18:25

Broad Haven South is a gorgeous beach. We went one July and it was empty.

You should also visit Bosherton Lily Ponds - a very beautiful place!

fruitpastille · 17/08/2025 18:27

We've stayed by Newgale Beach a few times. Not far to drive to St David's (via Solva) which is lovely.

Forgottenmyphone · 17/08/2025 18:30

For beaches: Barafundle Bay, Tenby North Beach, and Whitesands Bay
For pretty towns and villages with views: Saundersfoot and Solva

SemmaLina · 17/08/2025 18:30

There’s a lovely walk from Stepaside through Wisemans Bridge to Saundersfoot ( another fantastic beach with shops and plenty of food places )
I really like Amroth
Llanstephan
Pendine ( too many static caravan parks ,but a long , long beach and the museum of speed )
I live in the area , any questions and I’ll try and answer

For beautiful off the beaten track beaches, Marloes sands, Watwick and Musselwick are my absolute favourites. Remember to check the tides though!

Ooh, and Monkhaven. The beach is tiny and stoney but there are ruins and a tiny super cute church.

clarepetal · 17/08/2025 21:05

Also, Manorbier, 10 min drive from Tenby, so all beautiful beach, next to church and castle. Remote and beautiful

RunAwayNow · 17/08/2025 22:09

We prefer a bit further north than Tenby etc - pretty much into Ceredigion, which is equally gorgeous but usually much quieter. Cardigan is a lovely town, the nearby village of St Dogmaels is by Poppit Sands, which is a massive lovely beach with the best bakery on its doorstep. Also great beaches at Mwnt, Penbryn and Llangrannog.

PurpleCoo · 17/08/2025 22:28

You haven't specified if you are traveling with dogs, or when you are traveling. Not all of the beaches are dog friendly all year round, and have seasonal restrictions until the end of September.

I'm doing a tour in September, sadly before the beaches open up again, but there should still be plenty of dog friendly places. I am starting in the Brecon Beacons, then to Manorbier near Tenby, then near the Blue lagoon nr Abereidi, before heading off to mid Wales for a night, Llanberis and a couple of 2 nighter stops each side of Anglesey. I get to quite a few different places then

wavingfuriously · 17/08/2025 22:50

No dog this time, wow! Pembrokeshire really popular with mumsnetters 😄 thanks for all the tips, going to pester some more hope that ok😊

Solva is a lovely small village next to the sea

OnceIn · 17/08/2025 22:53

Also Little Haven next to Broad Haven

Shoemadlady · 17/08/2025 22:57

You can walk from broad haven to little haven which is gorgeous when the tide is out, really lovely! Barrafundle bay is defo worth a visit. St David’s and Solva are lovely and there isn’t a bad beach down there. If you’re into Harry Potter you can visit Debbie’s grave at Freshwater beach and white sands beach is amazing too!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/08/2025 22:59

As what everyone else says especially Solva.
After the first time you visit Pembrokeshire you find yourself always coming back (unless that's just me 😂)

CrystalSingerFan · 17/08/2025 23:23

Solva
Manorbier
Newgale
Roch
Tenby (from there, do take the boat to Caldy Island)
St Davids
Porthgain (bit further away but great seafood at The Shed Fish & Chip Bistro

asknotwhat · 18/08/2025 07:28

Pembrokeshire is stunning - pretty much all of the coast path is beautiful. I particularly like the section around Strumble Head. We almost always see porpoises at that spot - you have to be patient, sit there for a picnic and just keep watching the sea. You also sometimes see dolphins while you're walking the coast path, and there are loads of seals about. There are lots of places you can do a good circular walk, if you choose the right shape of coast - ie most of the walk is coast, with just a short inland cut across a headland or whatever to finish. Buy yourself a walk book and you'll be spoilt for choice.

The boat trips to the islands are lovely too. Skomer is great, though I think the puffins will all be back out to sea now (you can see short eared owls during the day there too). Ramsay is also lovely.

SemmaLina · 18/08/2025 07:52

Yes , we’ve walked some of the coastal path , you can ( if you’re organised ) use the bus one way and walk one way

There are also some circular walks , I like the one that does Bosherston , Broadhaven much nicer than Barafundle imho )

We usually start at Broadhaven

We've just come back from a week in Cardigan and it was lovely. Slightly cheaper and not as busy as a lot ofplaces in Pembrokeshire bit there were so many lovely places to visit and beautiful beaches. You could also do day trips to St David's, Tenby etc easily.

PornOfCopia · 18/08/2025 11:08

For a relatively short circular walk you could park in Dale and walk around St Anne's head.
