DC with threadworms in Greece. Need prescription

The pharmacy said they need a prescription; the medical center said they need to examine DC. DC doesn’t want to get their bottom examined by a strange dr. I think the whole thing is ridiculous.

We are in an apartment with one bathroom, spending lots of time together so likely to get all infected; still a week of holiday left.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Are there any natural treatments, besides good hygiene. We don’t have a washing machine here.

Right, found the email they sent me with the prescription

This was very useful. Thanks a lot.

The appointment was 40 euros. We just spoke to the dr and they are going to send a prescription.

Dr confirmed they just need a prescription in Greece for these medication as according to her is some kind of antibiotic and need prescription

I'm so glad it helped; it was a lifesaver for me at the time.

Hope your DC feels better!

My youngest is prone and I always travel with Ovex now. The stuff we got in France one year didn’t seem as effective, but it was also hard to do hygiene/laundry as rigorously as I would at home since we were in a holiday rental.

When I was a child my mum would treat threadworms with a garlic clove inserted into bottom. Apparently they don’t like it so stops them coming out to lay eggs.

This is a really weird way of wording this. By going along with her refusal you're giving her ideas that a medical examination is somehow wrong or sexual. I don't know the greek health system, but if you need a prescription you need a prescription, and if you can only get a prescription by seeing a doctor that's what you'll need to do. You're the parent so quite frankly grow up. 'A male strange greek doctor'... wtf. It's a medical professional. If she'd prefer to see a woman that's fair enough, but the fact they're a stranger and greek should be nothing to do with it.

ETA - you can also chaperone her for the exam if you're actually paranoid that something would happen.

I completely agree with OP in trying to minimise the chances of her teenage daughter having to be intimately examined for no reason. Yes there are times when a teenager needs to be supported through the necessity of such an examination but this absolutely is not one of those cases. I would 100% be on board with this if I was OP. In any case, she got sorted without having to put her child through it.

I wouldn't let a doctor examine my child's anus for the sake of threadworms.
Completely unnecessary

I think that would be painful.
