If money were no object where would you take your kids on holiday?

Imagine you have an unlimited budget and you want to take a family of 4 on holiday, where would you go and where would you stay?

@overmydeadbodySkeleton coast is Namibia.

Cannot believe anyone thinks Disney is the best holiday money can buy! It really isn’t.

Same. Have done it and enjoyed it but omg its man made artificial lands.....there's a whole stunning world out there to explore!

Caspianberg · 11/07/2025 07:02

@TizerorFizz - well no. People were saying their kids would love a safari if they won millions. So presumably they don’t currently have millions to safari in South Africa. A Sri Lanka holiday with several day safaris is a good compromise that might be affordable for some before the spare ££ appear. It’s about the same as a decent European holiday.

The poor mites will have to suffer with no rhinos, but Elephants, leopards, alligators, Buffalo and other poor man animals.

@Caspianberg This was a thread about money no object! The whole point was you would not make do! Plus if you are keen on African wildlife, you cannot see it anywhere else. It’s not about value for money and decent alternatives (and I do agree Sri Lanka is great) it’s about doing what you really would like to do (and have dreamed of doing) because you have the money. This thread is about fulfilling dreams, not doing something that saves money.

Australia and New Zealand to visit my brother and sister! Sadly won’t happen for at least a few years x

Chasingsquirrels · 11/07/2025 16:43

How old are the children?

DiscoPolly · 11/07/2025 17:00

They all want something different if I have unlimited time as well then I’d take them for 6 weeks each to their chosen destination. Which would be
DC1 Australia
DC2 on a yacht around Greece
DC3 Italy
DC4 a tour of famous football stadiums

Mynewnameis · 11/07/2025 17:03

Copenhagen then lakes and countryside of Scandinavia

Luxury villa in Greece (or elsewhere on med) with air con and direct beach access

Center Parcs 😅

Mynewnameis · 11/07/2025 17:08

Although the giraffe hotel sounds amazing, if they have air conditioning and a pool!

My kids didn’t love Disney at all. They complained about going to the parks after a couple of days and if you ask them about the best part of the trip they said going on segways in Miami

Same here. Kids didn't like Disney. We happened to get free tickets to go back and they moaned so much we ended up giving them away to friends.

I meant the kids, not the tickets ;)

@MynewnameisDid you know it can be very cold in Kenya at night? Loads of hotels and camps don’t have air con or pools!

That is where we are off to on Sunday sailing around the Ionian islands in Greece on a yacht. It isn’t as expensive as people would think.

The one I follow on Instagram so I can get it booked when I win the lottery is 35K per week for up to 8 people. Based in the Bahamas

that Is quite good price for a crewed yacht (I used to work in yacht charter), thankfully we don’t need a crew as we can sail. We like privacy on the boat so a crew onboard wouldn’t work for us.

Japan, China, Hong Kong and Hawaii! With a small trip to New Zealand too 😉

budgiegirl · 11/07/2025 19:02

If we'd never been there, and the kids were younger than they are now, then Disney/Universal, plus a road trip around Florida/Caribbean cruise would absolutely be top of the list. But we have been lucky enough to go a few times to the Florida, so don't feel the need to go again, and the kids are now all adults.

Now that they're grown, I think I would go to either Japan or Australia/New Zealand with them. Or, as money would be no object, probably all three!

Great thread!
It depends on the age of the kids - mine are pre-schoolers so are happy with a pool and bucket and spade.

if it were up to me, business class flights to places I’ve wanted to go to/return to - Uzbekistan, Andaman Islands, Los Roques in Venezuela for diving, Alborz mountains in Iran for skiing, Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, a beautiful palace in Lebanon that held concerts (can’t remember the name), Iceland for the nature, ancient ruins in Jordan, hiking in the Atlas Mountains.
Then finish off with a month in a staffed villa in Greece on a quiet beach and near a village with tavernas etc.
Since budget is unlimited, add on a trip to Cook Islands/Tahiti for a bit of diving. Then maybe a trip to wine country in Argentina. Then trekking in Nepal. Then travel the silk route.
So many options.

West coast USA, I think we would fly to Vegas and then go to Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon, then Utah desert, Joshua Tree. The up into the mountains Sequoia, then Yosemite, Yellowstone, Napa (for me really), Maybe Great Lakes, San Francisco, Big Sur... the American national parks are incredible.

SpikeGilesSandwich · 11/07/2025 19:28

Safari in South Africa, Madagascar, Galápagos Islands, Hawaii, Australia….

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 11/07/2025 19:37

I’ve heard Costa Rica is amazing with older kids, so maybe there. Or Canada or Japan.

Too hard to chose with an imaginary unlimited budget - we usually just go to Mallorca!
