Imagine you have an unlimited budget and you want to take a family of 4 on holiday, where would you go and where would you stay?

Never Disney, just isn't our cup of tea.

We had an amazing month in Hawaii and would go back in a heartbeat.

Also an amazing snowboarding holiday.

Then the skeleton coast in Nairobi.

Piratejenny99 · 09/07/2025 22:50

Japan, South Africa or Costa Rica. Ikos is lovely but it’s not what I’d choose if I had a real unlimited budget!

Ddakji · 09/07/2025 22:52

Japan, Korea and Australia.

Have done Australia, hoping to do Japan and Australia in the next couple of years.

TizerorFizz · 09/07/2025 23:49

@overmydeadbodySkeleton coast is Namibia.

Cannot believe anyone thinks Disney is the best holiday money can buy! It really isn’t.

stample · 10/07/2025 06:05

Disney-world
cyprus
china

digiwidgy · 10/07/2025 06:09

I have just asked DS who is 16. He said business class flights to Oz to visit family with stops to Tokyo on the way there and Hong Kong on the way back.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 10/07/2025 06:35

I’d like to recreate that first route on Race Across The World but stay in luxury hotels. London to Singapore

Twilightstarbright · 10/07/2025 06:36

DS is 8 and loves football, theme parks and animals. So as it’s a family holiday I’d go for a luxury World Cup to see all the matches we wanted, WDW in luxury hotels with premier passes or the Galapagos.

DancefloorAcrobatics · 10/07/2025 06:39

Grand tour of Aisa (Thailand, Korea & Cambodia,...) or Canada.

curious79 · 10/07/2025 06:40

Pacific Islands
Mega first class trip to Galapagos
Extended Christmas stay at a specific private Seychelles atol
five star Australia trip
exclusive dude ranch in somewhere like Montana

it would never be Disney 🤮

HistoricalOrchard · 10/07/2025 06:44

Currently, it would be Japan as that’s where they’d like to go.
I’d also like to take them on Safari through Kenya and South Africa and go to Alaska as they’ve also talked about those.

rugbychick1 · 10/07/2025 06:45

Japan.
back to Australia to show DP and DD places I’ve visited and loved. Stopover in Singapore and maybe do Japan as well

The question is where would you take your kids - maybe it’s where their kids would most love to go.

My kids are still really little, so I might consider Disney… probably do a very luxury trip to Lapland at Xmastime though 🎄

DublinLaLaLa · 10/07/2025 06:54

Urgh, the Disney snobs are out in force again! DH and I have done a lot of travelling and there are loads of places we’d love to take the DC. But, if we asked them, back to Florida we would go! And we’d have a bloody brilliant time.

Personally, Japan is top of my list.

CeeJay81 · 10/07/2025 07:55

Another one here for Japan! Unfortunately we haven't much money and due to dh health issues, I can't see it ever happening. It's the one place all 4 of us would love to go though, not just the kids. Mario World, Ghibli Park, Pokemon Cafe etc. DS is a big anime fan. Maybe one day, we can dream.

ZiggyZowie · 10/07/2025 07:57

An uninhabited Greek island in a villa stocked with all the food and drinks needed for 2 weeks

Didntask · 10/07/2025 07:59

Japan, then Hawaii. DS has asked to go to both those places for a couple of years now. Hoping that in the next couple of years we can make it a reality.

Runnersandtoms · 10/07/2025 08:09

I could take or leave Disney but my kids LOVED Efteling (both as small children and as teens) and if money was no object, staying in one of the special themed rooms in the hotel would be great.

I'd probably like to take mine (teens) on safari, or maybe a tour of Italy looking at all the arty stuff plus Pompei. Or a month exploring all the beautiful parts of France. Or an island hopping type thing with snorkeling and water sports in warm seas.

IDontDrinkTea · 10/07/2025 08:13

My six year old wants to go to all the Disney resorts world wide - not just Florida, but California, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai. So I suppose if I had all the money in the world I’d probably take her to all of them…

My kids didn’t love Disney at all. They complained about going to the parks after a couple of days and if you ask them about the best part of the trip they said going on segways in Miami

TizerorFizz · 10/07/2025 09:34

Disney is a theme park. It’s not exploring a country or marine life. It’s not understanding the rest of the world or seeing anything remotely outstanding or different. Asking children what they want to do when they don’t know the Galápagos Islands exist, or don’t have any experience of ancient civilizations in say, Peru, or know you can snorkel with beautiful fish or see lions and tigers in the wild, or visit a rainforest, probably would repeat Disney because they have not been educated to know anything else is possible. If you had real money, why would you not look further than Disney to find other wonders? It’s the job of a parent to teach dc about the world. I’d hate to go through life just pushing the repeat button.

bluemoonredsky · 10/07/2025 09:38

Tanque Verde Ranch, Arizona - we have been before and its honestly amazing

okydokethen · 10/07/2025 09:42

A big five type safari in maybe Kenya
A road trip covering lots of the USA
Japan

The two aren’t mutually exclusive. I’d hate to be such a fun sponge that I only allow my kids to have culturally enriching fun. DH and I are lucky to have travelled to a few of the places mentioned and we plan to take our kids to many of them too. We still enjoy a good Disney holiday, as I’m sure our kids will, kids are allowed to be kids and enjoy kid things, in the same way I won’t be insisting my 5 year old only reads Shakespeare instead of good old Julia Donaldson. I know you’re trying to come across as superior but it’s not really working.

TizerorFizz · 10/07/2025 12:27

@YaWeeFurryBastard This was a thread about money no object so the whole premise was really about the best of the best! Maybe your dc wanted Disney. Mine went to Paris one and were underwhelmed so box ticked and move on. They have no friends besotted with Disney either, so it was irrelevant.

They still talk about a hyena in our camp and swimming with turtles. With money you open up amazing options. And yes, I do think education on holidays can be mixed with fun but my DDs didn’t find Disney great fun. Luckily they have a broad spectrum of interests and memories. This is what money buys.
