Hi, am thinking of going with 5yr old ds and some friends this year (children aged 2-35) and wondered if anyone had been and whether it was worth a go?

Thanks

Strawberry Fair for anyone who's interested. Even the bouncy castles are free.

kids bit

We go to the Derbyshire County Show and Bakewell Show.

Lowther was great too (side trip from Centre Parcs).

Karathraceandherspecialdestiny · 02/06/2008 11:38

Thanks mamado et al - Clapham Common one looks fun (esp with free ice-cream!) but it's much further away from us than Regent's Park so thought we'd go for location rather than theme.
My dd is 2 and seems to love crowds (!) so I don't think she'll be put off. Will def bring my own picnic though. Shame you have to book in advance - wouldn't want to bother if weather was crap...

Thanks for the replies.
I was really looking for ideas for places to take 5yr old ds as he's been ill for two years, and recently diagnosed with long-term illness. He doesn't go to school as he's not well enough and we moved to try to give him a calmer environment to grow up in as it may help.
We were looking for events that would be child-friendly, lots of children to play with as, when he's on a good day, he loves playing with children his own age.

But please, to the other posters, do continue to take the piss because you know all about me don't you.

No you're right-it's fair to not assume it.
I need to go look for my sense of humour as I seem to have lost it this morning.

Parachutes - don't worry if you read the thread, it's me that they are taking the piss out of (and I couldn't give a shit).

I rec you should take your 5yo to the innocent festival - children love stuff like that and if it all gets a bit much for him, Regents Park is a big place and if you take a picnic you can enjoy a quieter part of it nearby and still have a lovely day out.

Enid · 02/06/2008 12:08

I do love Kara thrace though

(dont tell me her destiny as I have only watched series 1 so far)

parachutes · 02/06/2008 12:08

Thanks, not really worried to be honest-I'm old enough to take it.
We might well go if he's on a good day-though of course we actually do have a real live local village fete to attend first.
Though I'm not sure I like everyone knowing me...not quite fitting in to the whole country thing as yet but trying hard.

Not sure if that's a good or bad thing as I can't quite understand the point being made

Enid - I might spoil all if you continue to take the piss out of Londoners... Actually I quite like a city VS (creepy) country debate - bring it on.

Enid · 02/06/2008 12:11

now that is power!

parachutes · 02/06/2008 12:19

is this the Ben & Jerry's one?

OP posts:
mamado · 02/06/2008 13:29

yep, thats the one. Tis good fun...i'd recommend it. There is a little kids tent too for some kiddie fun alongside decent music and food for the grown-ups. Although dd1 likes dancing to the music more than anything else!

parachutes · 02/06/2008 13:33

ds loves music so he'd love it-thanks for that!

just make sure you sign up for it, then you get first notice of when the tickets go on sale...it does sell out fast....

and at least you may have heard of the bands before too!!!!

parachutes · 02/06/2008 13:38

Just done that-thanks.

The Guardian did a guide to festivals on Saturday. I was thinking of going to the Ben and Jerrys one - DD loves ice cream .

parachutes · 02/06/2008 13:40

your dd isn't the only one!
Have you ever tried B&J Chocolate Therapy? Seriously, there's little better.

OP posts:
mamado · 02/06/2008 13:42

well you'll be able to eat as much as you like...and its all free

parachutes · 02/06/2008 13:44
