SweetChilliGirl · 04/04/2025 16:12

Burma? I wouldn't.

CaramelVanilla · 04/04/2025 16:13

What are you looking for?

Its a lovely place, with fantastic beaches, but it is VERY expensive

Smallmercies · 04/04/2025 16:17

I've never beent to Barmuda, but I have family there and it's amazing by all accounts!

CarpetKnees · 04/04/2025 16:18

Is anyone else singing the Barry Mannilow song now ? Grin

Saltedcarameltiramisucheesecake · 04/04/2025 16:20

Stupidly expensive for even day to day ordinary stuff, I believe. Bermuda, that is.
Don't know about Barramundi or Burma.

Bermuda Triangle, Barry Manilow. He's trying to warn you, maybe don't go?

Wishboneswishes · 04/04/2025 16:22

Looks beautiful but seems to be very expensive.
Check out mrstorcook on insta she lives there. She’s Frankie Bridge’s sister.

sommerjade · 04/04/2025 16:24

My sister has been twice as she knows a local family, the beaches are beautiful.

BottleBlondeMachiavelli · 04/04/2025 16:32

It’s nice if you like beaches or water sports. The seafood culture is good. Interesting to see British culture mixed with US culture in a Caribbean setting. Worth a visit if you have the budget. Just be a bit careful if you need to take a pushchair or if anybody has impaired mobility. The island isn’t great for flat access.

Whammyyammy · 04/04/2025 16:38

Me and DH went about 7 years ago. We stayed in Grotto Bay, which was beautiful, had it's own beach and an amazing cave swimming thing.
Was a drive to Hamilton, we hired a moped but also purchased a 'bus' ticket for about $8 that was hop on hop off all round the island, including the ferry to the old royal navy dockyard(a must see).
The trip and expenditure was high, think $20 for an alcoholic drink(try the rum swizzle), but so glad I went.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 04/04/2025 16:57

I worked there for 10 years. As PPs have said, it’s very beautiful with pink sandy beaches but very expensive compared with other places. The buses are pretty good - pink and blue bus stops with the top colour pink into and blue out of Hamilton.

When my brother came to stay, he said he’d done Hamilton in the morning, Dockyard in the afternoon and St George’s the following day … it’s very relaxing and not masses to do for two weeks. Depends what you want. Cruise ships used to stay on Front Street for a couple of days and passengers felt that was enough.

Ilikewinter · 04/04/2025 17:57

We went on a cruise, stopped 2.5 days, as others have said its a beautiful place, amazing beaches and very expensive! 100% recommend it though of you get the opportunity to go

BeentoBermudaOnce · 04/04/2025 18:14

It is beautiful, you can see everything in less than a week, but if you like the beach it is gorgeous. If you want to travel around it will be taxi or Twizzy. Cars are strictly rationed as there are only 3 roads! Water sports/sailing very popular.
It is eye wateringly expensive. Think 20 Dollars for a bottle of Jacob's Creek or a small pizza. The fish is delicious. It is very hot.
(A week in Jersey is also lovely, cheaper, if you get the weather).

BeentoBermudaOnce · 04/04/2025 18:16

Most beaches didn't have toilets or changing facilities (4 years ago), so take a long micro towelling robe.

It's in the North Atlantic, not the Caribbean.

Seafood culture?
Is that just eating seafood?

VanCleefArpels · 04/04/2025 19:16

It’s tiny, not much to see, you’ll cover all bases in 3-4 days. FOR a fly/flop holiday you might find other places are better VFM. If you are a golfer or into water sports then there will be more to occupy your time

😁 It is the complete ubiquity of seafood. I quite liked it. There are various things it is hard to get there but not that.

I meant the weather. Sorry, wasn’t clear.

backfromouterspace · 04/04/2025 22:48

Went to Bermuda a few years ago and absolutely loved it. Yes it’s expensive but if you stay at Grotto Bay you can get all inclusive (it’s the only place in Bermuda that offers this) plus they have ferry// bus passes you can use. We got the bus everywhere, it’s a small island so doesn’t take long to get into Hamilton or go to the Docks. The locals are really nice as well.

KimberleyClark · 05/04/2025 10:56

Went there years and years ago - it was a cruise from New York to Bermuda which was probably the cheapest way to do it back then.
