Did anyone go to Turkey last summer? Wondering what the typical temperatures are like. Wanting real experiences rather than averages on google

Bloody hot .Went end of July last year and was 40 degrees at the max and 34 at the lowest

samlovesdilys · 03/03/2025 14:10

We were outside Istanbul beginning of July last year, very hot and sunny, thankfully had a coastal breeze which helped lots, wore straps tops, shorts and long linen skirts. It was lovely!!

Yumyi · 03/03/2025 14:21

Thank you. Trying to work out if it’s another step up from where we been before in terms or heat. We have done both Majorca and Croatia in July. But Turkey is further south. Or whether it’s all much the same once in the med

We went to Greek island in July and was 44

ivegotthisyeah · 03/03/2025 14:23

Very hot but we go most years so as long as you have a pool you will be fine if it's a hiking holiday maybe not!

Pearl97 · 03/03/2025 14:23

Boiling!!!!

ivegotthisyeah · 03/03/2025 14:24

Ps everywhere is AC, it's not that awful I can't breath heat either just scorching so umbrella and pool a must - Turkey is beautiful

I was in Antalya at the end of July and it was unbearable you felt the heat as soon as the plane touched the runway. A couple of weeks before I was there the temperature was even higher I don’t know how I’d have coped. Even during the night was in the 20s there was no break from it. I swore I would never go back again but here I am booked up again this July so it can’t have been that bad😂

Comedycook · 03/03/2025 14:27

We went to a Greek island at the end of July..it was touching 40 most days... absolutely boiling...did feel slightly warmer than when we were in Majorca at the same time of year. It was ok for lazing round the pool/beach/resort but too hot to do much sightseeing/walking/shopping etc.

BB49 · 03/03/2025 14:27

@ivegotthisyeah where do you tend to go in Turkey?

mamabluestar · 03/03/2025 14:29

Absolutely boiling at around 40°! We were in Side for the last week of July/1st week of August.

Yumyi · 03/03/2025 14:36

Thanks for replies. Other option is to go in October, but maybe then it’s a little coool?

Been to Antalya, Dalyan Aylanya, fethiye ( probably all spelt wrong) what kind of holiday are you after we have done hotel and villa x

ivegotthisyeah · 03/03/2025 14:40

And side!

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 03/03/2025 14:41

We were in Bodrum in July and it was in the high 30s most of the time. That is about average for July.
October can be lovely, maybe low 20s but it gets cold at night and it can rain.
I have always found the heat similar in other Mediterranean countries to be honest.

While I am on the subject. Would any lovely people be able to recommend somewhere with a pretty beach - hotel at beachfront. Need good food and small town to walk to. Don’t mind about entertainment, in fact prefer if don’t have any, we prefer just a swim in the sea in the evening. Taking two teenage boys who live sea swimming

Most of the big hotels in Turkey are on the beach

Oblomov25 · 03/03/2025 15:00

We are going to side end of June, hoping for low 30's rather than 40.

ivegotthisyeah · 03/03/2025 15:00

Actually we went to one in Lara beach that you had to get a boat to so do check

BB49 · 03/03/2025 15:27

@ivegotthisyeah would prefer a villa, possibly a small hotel. We've been to Fethiye and Kalkan and Kas.

Shambles123 · 03/03/2025 15:33

We've had great weather last two Octobers in the the Fethiye area, booked to go again, 27c in the day with lots of sun, just cooler first thing and evening (need jacket/cardie in eve).

We were in Crete last October and the weather was lovely, low to mid 20s. I was keeping an eye on Turkey at the same time and it seemed to be 3/4 degrees warmer. To me that's warm enough for pool and sunbathing but also not too uncomfortable for sightseeing.

stanleypops66 · 03/03/2025 16:45

We've been to turkey the past 3 years in July. It's very hot but completely bearable. Rooms all had good aircon and lots of structured parasols around the pool and beach.

I'd recommend TUI blue tropical in Sarigerme. It's 20 mins from the airport, a small village/ town, lovely beach with water sports and great local trips. We've done the mud baths and the river cruise in Dalyan which takes you down to turtle bay (huge turtles just swimming around). Also amazing boat trips.

Highly recommend here. Very low key. Lovely pool and low key watersports centre. Fabulous food and staff were lovely. 5 mins and about £5 to Bitez for shops and restaurants. £10 to Bodrum for more.

We were too hot to go properly sightseeing but enjoyed beach and pool
