Eurocamp?

Franktank19 · 02/03/2025 20:40

Hey

looking for a 7 night holiday for summer!
Can not justify the 4k price that I am getting via TUI etc.
Has anyone been to a Eurocamp site? Are they as great as they seem?
I have a 5 and 7 year old, is this a good age to go?
lastly…..is there an all inclusive option?
am not sure its much of a holiday having to cook and clean the whole time but
appreciate I may not have a choice, if wanting to keep costs down, but am curious to see what people think

thank you xx

It is great for kids but you definitely self catering. Tens to have loads on site, pools bars playgrounds etc.

Where you thinking of going?

NCfor24 · 02/03/2025 20:44

We love Eurocamp but it's self catering.....which is our preference as treat our lodge/van as home from home and take familiar foods, cater for allergies etc.
I personally would hate to take my kids to "eat out" for 3 meals a day like a hotel buffet etc but it's personal choice.
Sites we've been to have had kids clubs, pool complexes and plenty to do nearby. Have been to France, Italy, Netherlands and had amazing holidays.

We did one (with children) last summer, in France. Lots for children to do on site, can easily self cater but there were also a couple of cafes, a takeaway, a restaurant and a bakery on site so don’t have to cook yourself all the time. Having a chalet with air con is vital, I would say. It was in the high 30’s for most of the time we were there.

Great for kids this age. Cooking - a lot of places have takeaway and or restraunts on site. Usually a smallish shop on site for bread etc. french supermarkets are brill. Cooking - keep it very simple. Buy ready cooked whole chicken for salads, oven chips, etc.

cleaning. Don't and just clean the day you leave. Ensure you get the bedding and towel package and take your own pool towels. Take your own veg knife and a chopping board.

We did it for years and have very happy memories. Can recommend La Garangoire in the Vendee. Brittany is lovely too.

When we do self catering we usually have a nice lunch out and in the evening pick on bits and pieces, bread and cheese etc. No cooking involved.

turtletum · 02/03/2025 22:16

I think they're great for that age. My kids of similar age love it. We have enjoyed Yelloh and Sandaya campsites, too.

It is SC, but we do a quick breakfast in the caravan or get pastries from the onsite bakery. Lunch we usually have out, either in a nearby town or at the onsite snack bar/restaurant. Dinner is usually bread, cheese and fruit, eaten on the terrace outside. Easy. If you can, get a bigger caravan with a dishwasher.

There is plenty to do onsite, pool, playground, kids animation/clubs. We also try and get off site some days, go for a bike ride, visit the local village/town, head to the beach.

Much difference in euro camps / all camps?

We did Eurocamps in France and Switzerland a few years ago. The one just on the outskirts of Paris was very basic and seemed designed to be for people visiting Paris, rather than wanting to stay on site a lot. We used it as a base for visiting Eurodisney for a couple of days then we drove South. We went to one near Biarritz (I think it was Labenne) and it was lovely. lots to do on site and nearby.

The following year we went to the one in Interlaken in Switzerland and, again, a good experience. Lots to do (kids loved swimming in the lake and the nearby water sports) and a truly beautiful location.

Have a look at the campsites in Spain. They often offer bed and breakfast/full board or half board.

MrsFaustus · 03/03/2025 17:31

We always did Eurocamp or similar when kids were young.it was great, they made friends and had more freedom than they could have at home. I cooked in the evening but just bbqs or pasta type stuff.Supermarkets have fab range of ready stuff and most sites have somewhere to get pizza or rotisserie chicken and chips.Great memories.

Mrsbadger77 · 03/03/2025 17:41

Many Eurocamp sites provide gas BBQs outside the holiday homes as standard so it is pretty easy to be self sufficient , mix with takeaways from the site and evening it in the local town it's just about perfect when you have kids tbh. I don't know if you've priced it yet , whilst it may be cheaper than a TUI AI it is no longer considered to be cheap especially if factoring in flights or the more expensive ferry routes. We still love it though. The kids have so much freedom and it's so relaxing for parents too the kids clubs are good and when they make friends that is the icing on the cake!

This is the one we went to - La Croix du Vieux Pont. We liked it a lot.

There’s a few interesting sites to visit nearby (Armistice Clearing, Pierrefonds Chateau) and a fair bit to do on site. I think it’s a 5-7 night camp though really, not a big 2 week holiday one.

MissAmbrosia · 04/03/2025 10:02

My favourites were - Les Ranchisses in the Ardeche, Les Peneyrals and St Avit Loisirs in the Dordogne, La Carabasse in Languedoc, and Union Lido / Park Albatros in Italy.

ooooohnoooooo · 04/03/2025 10:10

We did them when ours were little - Canvas rather than eurocamp.

Absolutely brilliant. The kids club meant we got to have leisurely breakfast uninterrupted , the kids had a whale of a time and made friends.

Facilities were excellent, pools fab, pizza restaurants etc on site so convenient if you don't want to cook. Supermarche an adventure. Brilliant local beaches nearby. My kids are adults now and still reminisce about those glorious holidays ☺️🥰
