Where’s hot but not too hot in August?

We normally go away in May to avoid temps over 30 but next year we have to go away in August. We just want a week in the sun but I cant be out in very high temps so I’ve never looked for holidays abroad this time of year. Can anyone recommend a country or city that not too hot over the summer break?

The leaves start to turn in Scandinavia in August, so definitely not a 'hot but not too hot' destination.

As someone who is really over flying, on climate grounds, does it definitely have to be to a hot place a flight away?

Skiathos

Northern Spain. Though anywhere could have a heatwave. It was a lot like the UK in August overcast and rainy but warmer than here then lovely when the sun was out then theg had a 40C day unusual heatwave and we melted! Then ut went back to being low 20s

In the past I've had holidays on Lake Maggiore, on the Istrian Riviera (north Croatia) and Northern Portugal where the weather hasn't been too hot during the last week of August.

I'm not sure if I'd risk it now though. Both because temperatures seem to be getting higher, but also I can't cope with the heat like I used to.

We went to the Black Forest in Germany another year and that was OK too. But as above it was a few years ago now.

Are you tied to school holidays OP? Could you go in October half term?

Scandinavia. It's beautiful in the summer. Or Iceland.

Hmmm, we just did a week in Brittany in August and the temps barely touched 20 degrees. Plus it rained 3 of the days. We moved onto the Loire after that and it was a much nicer mid 20s there.

It's my second time in Brittany with the same weather so I'm done with it now - could just stay at home for that weather!

La Rochelle area of France - usually SE England weather plus say 3 degrees. So if England has a heatwave yes it will be very hot there but that’s rare. Equally if it’s cold and drizzly in England it’s probably the same there but a little warmer and sunnier! Rare to be 30+

Also the Alps as a PP said - it can really rain there but usually not continuous and sun in between

Slovenia - coast, mountains, nice normal temp range.

The Baltic coast of Poland is cooler than points south. Sopot is nice.
