tigger55 · 02/09/2024 20:15

Seems to be only these 2 companies that do the flights I need

All I hear is bad things from EJ .

OR are they both as bad !

Thanks

Are they BA flights or Vueling? We found them fine last year.

TheFlis · 02/09/2024 20:16

I have only ever had good experiences with both and I fly a few times each year.

Howdiditgetsobad · 02/09/2024 20:17

We have flown EasyJet twice recently and have had a good experience. It’s Ryan Air that I avoid.

Hoolihan · 02/09/2024 20:17

Much of a muchness. Nowt wrong with Easyjet!

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 02/09/2024 20:19

Go with the cheapest and most convenient when taking into account luggage plans, airport locations and timings.

Flown both and can't fault either. Easyjet surprisingly good.

Ohh ok thank you all ..

Having a bit of a wobble doing the final decisions.

Separate accommodation and separate flights for the first time !
Not package .

Depending on your plans. Easyjwt and BA can have good deals packaging things up.

Ellerby83 · 02/09/2024 20:21

I avoid BA because of their catastrophic IT failures

coldcallerbaiter · 02/09/2024 20:23

I use both regularly, I do not expect much and so my expectations are met! I find the airport experience worse than the airlines tbh.

tigger55 · 02/09/2024 20:49

@Antsinmypantsneedtodance
Thanks...we want appartment rather than hotel ...so a bit stumped at doing it that way !

I go BA as they have more generous cabin bag allowance. Not an issue if you have hold luggage too though.

T5 at Heathrow is also easier to get to whilst Easyjet is a slightly longer journey to Gatwick so I factor that. Might not be the case with your situation.

BA also do a hottie of water and a snack on short Gaul. Nothing on Easyjet.

TheBossOfMe · 02/09/2024 20:55

How do they stack up against each other? Airports? Terminals? Times? Extras?

Madcats · 02/09/2024 20:55

BA have bigger sized carry on luggage allowance, in case that helps.

That said, we did end up having to check ours in when we holidaymakers joined an early morning flight.

magicmushrooms · 02/09/2024 20:58

I have found BA tend to cancel flights with no real reason or explanation. EJ do try and get their flights to run on time, I have had better experience with them, I avoid BA on the whole. It does depend on where you are flying from.

Longhotsummers · 02/09/2024 20:59

I love EJ. Tomorrow morning they’re releasing their summer 2025 fares. I’m poised to book.

Kosenrufugirl · 02/09/2024 21:05

I much prefer EasyJet to Ryan Air. British Airways would let you change your tickets for £60 plus the the price difference your plans suddenly change. I remember I had a family emergency and they changed my flight details at least 5 times and never charged a penny. That was a few years ago I don't know if they still do. I like EasyJet very much but I would fly with British Airways out of loyalty if I had a choice

tigger55 · 02/09/2024 21:12

@Longhotsummers ....yes I am poised and pen ready for tomorrow
Though I have since heard it is a myth and they are the same prices all year round !

mitogoshi · 02/09/2024 21:13

EasyJet lets you check in earlier for nothing extra! I would choice the best time

tigger55 · 02/09/2024 21:14

The Heathrow flights I was looking at have already gone up but £13 !

I fly easyJet regularly and have never ever had an issue with them. BA are ok but have gone downhill; fine if they were a budget airline; disappointing from the flag carrier.

Ryanair I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

tigger55 · 02/09/2024 21:23

Ryan air . Not in the equation !
Just then 2.

Even TUI don't fly. They use EJ on their package holiday/hotel deals

BA's website issues are very frustrating. We flew them shorthaul earlier this year and never managed to check-in online (which was annoying as we had to be at the airport earlier to allow time to queue for check-in - just as well we had as the queue was huge as lots of people couldn't check in). We did get a voucher which I've booked to use, but even doing API was a pain on the BA site as it froze.
EasyJet from Gatwick are normally really efficient - don't know about other airports.

MidnightPatrol · 02/09/2024 21:37

Both fine tbh - I just choose the cheapest / most convenient and wouldn’t think about the airline too much.

The main issue I find is actually comparing costs once baggage allowance, seat reservations etc are included.

Once on board… I usually bring my own food now anyway from the airport (pret easy and fresh) - so really the on board experience isn’t much different. A free drink on BA.

BA are generally less strict on baggage but I wouldn’t pay more to travel on them for that reason.

noblegiraffe · 02/09/2024 21:40

Just be aware that the price quoted on the EasyJet website isn't the actual cost, each new screen they will ask you to pay for something new, like picking seats together, or taking a suitcase. It stacks up!

gaininginsight · 02/09/2024 21:42

If it's a European flight, 3/4 hours maximum then easy jet fine I think. I've used it quite a lot.
