Two nights
We want to be in a city/big town for sightseeing (a bit), shopping, drinking, eating. Hotel contemporary but not over-priced.
Have already been to Edinburgh, Bristol, London.
Was wondering about Brighton / Bath / York maybe?
Give me some inspiration and reassurance we will have a romantic and fantastic time. I'm very that Paris is off

I would love to do Bath for a weekend, the spa, the food, the shops.

tiredemma · 25/03/2008 09:45

Brighton would be nice if its a summer month.

I love York- its a beautiful city, Brighton is a bit more 'funkier'

Hotel du Vin in Brighton is very nice.

Moomin · 25/03/2008 09:50

THanks. Forgot to say we've already 'done' Leeds

Looked at Malamaison in Oxford but thought it was a bit pricey? Dh is paying for it all but he's already paying for me to have a big party, spa day with friends and a (secret) present so I don't want to take the piss with prices. I was thinking about £130 per night tops?

Brighton looks nice but train fare would be extortionate (we're in Midlands).

Would be end May/beginning JUne

Hi Pet.
How come Paris is off?

Glasgow is fab - great shops, trendy bars, amazing architechiture/art museums etc.
Harrogate like Bath but not so busy.
(Bath beautiful BTW, but will be BUSY in June (guessing that's when you are going)
Chester also delish.

Moomin · 25/03/2008 09:51

Maybe we'd be better doing just the one night and dinner, and staying closer to home...

Slouchy · 25/03/2008 09:52

Betcha could fly to Glasgow for under £40 each BTW

Oooh go to York. It is a fantastic City!

Moomin · 25/03/2008 09:57

ooooooooooooooooooooooo Babington house is YUMPTIOUS

but prob a bit pricey
But will ask dh anyway!

It just seems a bit obscene to spend this much money on ourselves just for one night

OP posts:
Slouchy · 25/03/2008 09:58

Oh, boo. Yep, Eurostar is £££.
Will do that r.e the Sat!

Job lovely - in fact, I am likely to do a transition into upper primary once dd2 is at school. I LURVE it.

50inchplasma · 25/03/2008 09:58

tiredemma · 25/03/2008 10:00

where abouts in the midlands are you Moomin?

SueW · 25/03/2008 10:00

Heifer · 25/03/2008 10:04

I did 2 nights midweek with my DH in London for my 40th (3 weeks ago) it was fab.

Stayed in Holiday Inn Forum Kensington (thanks to Airmiles)

visited

London Eye

Tutankahmun at O2 (had evening meal in 02, loads of choice)

First Empirors Exhibution (saw Terracotta Army (fab)

Walked around Kensington, Chelsea etc

Had lunch at a lebanese restarant in Kensington (or near abouts)

I don't think it matters where to go really, just spending time with your DH will be fab.
