Rome colosseum

This is a very specific question but I'm hoping that the collective mind will help.

We are going to Rome in April. And I'm trying to book tickets for the colosseum which is the priority.

However, every time I try and book the website refuses to access and then it kicks me out.

Has anyone got round this problem?

Yes I can't remember but maybe the parcocoloseo redirects bookings to the coopculture else not sure how I found it.

Dishwashersaurous · 22/02/2024 22:52

Coop culture is definitely the official site, its just that I can't access it

@Dishwashersaurous Are you doing it from a phone?

@Dishwashersaurous Are you doing it from a phone?

Yep.

Will try tomorrow on my ancient laptop which takes hours to wake up

I went in summer during school holidays and was so glad I had the tickets before going, maybe if it's outside school holidays getting them from the booking kiosk wouldn't be so bad, good luck with it. I had been before, but my DC loved Italy and Rome.

We walked up st peters basilica too and just got there early morning about 8.30 and spent about 10 mins queuing then got straight in and DC loved that too, so beautiful inside.

Good luck with it and hope you manage to get some tickets.

They only allow bookings from the site about a month in advance and every day release tickets for the next date available, but not all the tickets at once, different times for the slots available about every 30-60 mins. You will only really see one day available in green to book or possibly other dates if cancellations have happened. I would say that the people at the end of the email address are absolutely lovely as I mistakenly booked just an adult ticket so needed a refund for that one and they did it really quickly.
It is time intensive to get these tickets as you have to be quick and you may get so far in the process and then your ticket will disappear, but you will learn about the booking process which will speed you up for the next time! I was almost at the point of writing something myself to automate it and do what the bots do.

That was my experience when I was booking things recently for Rome that you could only book on the official site a certain period before you want to go!

We booked through coop culture for a visit 5 years ago and booked the underground tour. It is the official site.
Tripadvisor forum had some very good advice on booking as it is very confusing

HeddaGarbled · 22/02/2024 23:34

When we went last October, I booked through tiquets, something that sounded very like the tour in the link given by a previous poster. Two weeks before we went, I got an email from them saying we could still do the interactive presentation, Palatine Hill and Forum but not the Colosseum as it was over-booked.

In a panic, I cancelled, rebooked with another tour company, then looked at the reviews which basically said it was a scam and it was quite likely I’d turn up on the day to find the same issue. So, cancelled again, rebooked with Viator, who we’ve used before and know to be reliable. No tickets available through the official website at this stage, and most of Viator’s tours were sold out.

Come the day, Viator changed the time from morning to afternoon, tour went ahead, thank goodness, but the tour guide told us these were the very last Colosseum tickets available for the next two months.

I did get all my money back for the two cancelled tours.

No advice except to say be very wary.

I was in Rome last week and got Colluseum tickets on CoopCulture.

You can only book 30 days ahead. Once you are 30 days from going you can book your date and time slot.

It was 18 euros for an adult. Under 18s free. The ticket is valid for the Colluseum and for 24 hours after your Colluseum time slot for the Roman Forum. It's amazing value really.

That was the basic ticket, which suited us, but you can pay more for the underground tour etc.

GeorgeSmileysSpecs · 22/02/2024 23:48

If you’ve previously put tickets in your basket and dithered and not gone through with it, or kept clicking back and forth, you’ll be blocked for a while.

I had the same and emailed them. They said to wait a while before trying again.

Dishwashersaurous · 23/02/2024 10:17

Thanks all. I simply can't even get onto the booking page. I click on the button for check availability and the error message comes up.

Whether phone or laptop

I think it's a fault on the website. I just looked and got the same message.

If you're going in April you can't book that far ahead yet. They only release booking dates 30 days ahead.

Hopefully it will be sorted by the time you are able to book.

Lindy2 · 23/02/2024 12:04

You could also phone or email them instead.

BeaRF75 · 23/02/2024 12:08

I can't remember which website I used last year, but I recommend a combined ticket to include the Forum and Palatine Hill. I would say that you need to book at least 4 weeks in advance - I certainly wouldn't risk just turning up on the day any more!
Also book 4 weeks in advance for Galleria Borghese, which is fab.

TrulyScrumptiousTS · 23/02/2024 12:09

It seems to be blocking UK IP addresses

NotAPsycho · 23/02/2024 20:19

I can still see booking page on my android phone on WiFi in uk

Triptastico · 24/02/2024 12:00

@Dishwashersaurous I went last year and I think you can only book a month in advance. I too remember trying to be organised and wanting to buy tickets earlier and it not letting me.

I put a reminder in my diary and booked them a month in advance from the Coop website and all was well

Good luck.

Vanillalime · 24/02/2024 18:31

Im getting the same message OP when I try to book.

There’s a phone number on the COOP website. Maybe try giving them a ring tomorrow or Monday. They may be able to take payment over the phone & email the tickets to you.

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 24/02/2024 18:38

The website works for me, but you can only book 30 days in advance. April calendar isn't available yet.

SagittariusDwarf · 26/02/2024 11:26

The website isn't working for me either. Well the main website does, but when I click to buy tickets, that's when I get the same error message that the OP mentioned - even when I haven't added dates.

soupfiend · 26/02/2024 19:53

Just to say the website doesn't work for us here in rome either so long queues for the tickets and the woman at one of the sites said it works sometimes and doesn't work sometimes, then shrugged!

minipie · 26/02/2024 22:16

Same error message here. Seems a widespread problem not just you OP.

TheTripThatWasnt · 26/02/2024 22:23

I got as far as putting tickets in a basket and going to the checkout. I didn't go any further as I would have needed to put details in. That was on an android phone, using Chrome.

TedWilson · 26/02/2024 22:43

I did this one - was v good. Make sure you book Arena Floor level.

www.takewalks.com/rome-tours/colosseum-tours-rome/

soupfiend · 27/02/2024 05:55

The all in tickets for the forum, coliseum and palentine Hill are 24 euros for 2 days including the arena area, which by the way is just as horribly crowded as everywhere else and is a v small part of the place so that link for 71 euros is a total rip off
