Costa Adeje, Tenerife for kids/families

Ladolcevita233 · 26/12/2023 21:50

Does anyone have any experience of taking kids (6-9) to Costa Adeje?

I've tried trip advisor and nothing is jumping out (accommodation wise) for kids.

Likewise the things to do with kids seem to be two water parks, one jungle park/zoo, beaches and not much else.

Are there many of the bar/restaurants you get in family resorts with trampolines/bouncy castles etc. there?

Many thanks 🙏

Trip advisor also has a list of family resorts that somehow includes Adults Only places .... Like ??!!

Went in October half term with kids aged 8 and 4. There aren’t really any bars as you describe with stuff for kids. There are some of those high jump trampolines on the promenade by Fanabe beach that cost about €5 euros for 5 minutes. There’s a place called Fantasy Park at the end of that promenade by the McDonald’s that has a bouncy castle, small soft play area and trampolines but it looked absolutely filthy so we didn’t let our kids go in there.

Siam Park and Aqualand are both good water parks, Aqualand is better for kids as Siam Park has more thrill slides which therefore have taller height restrictions.

Playa del Duque beach gets absolutely rammed, we were down there for 9:30 in the morning and couldn’t get a sunbed.

There are lots of excursion shops, you can go to Loro Parc (not been so can’t comment), go to Mount Teide, there are lots of whale watching boat trips or you can get a ferry to Gran Canaria.

My kids love swimming so they were fine as we stayed somewhere that had a lovely pool, but you’re right there isn’t a great deal to do. We also got fed up with the constant harassment from beach/street sellers at all times of day, it’s not somewhere I’d rush back to.

Gran Oasis hotel is nice for families.

Gf gran and gf Victoria are both lovely. We switched to the Victoria (more expensive) as there is a water park at the hotel. There is loads for kids to do and clubs for each age bracket

Ah I'm coming across those in searches, I wonder if it''s Aqualand that's attached to the Victoria.
I'll check them out, thanks so much.

LOVE it.

great temperature, super nice restaurants and staff in la caleta.

load dog nice stuff to do.

We always stay in the royal corales

Twilightstarbright · 29/12/2023 21:22

The zoo is fantastic- Loro Parque.

Personally I prefer Lanzarote and felt there was more for us to do but when we went to Tenerife we had torrential rain for several days (in March) and had to buy coats as it was so cold which didn’t help.

Aqua land isn’t far away, it’s like a smaller version of Siam park (has more for younger kids) but the water park at the hotel is just a little mini one, two pools - one for toddlers with slides and the other with big slides

HighlandCowbag · 30/12/2023 07:46

We have always gone with dcs from dd being about 3. But it depends what your kids are like. Mine have both loved pool and beach so happy to do those in the day time, then go for a mooch and dinner later on.

We found tenerife more child friendly and family focused than the greek islands. Probably the most child friendly place we went to was Alcudia in Majorca but we tend to go away April time so a bit early in the season for spain.

Seems like that's as much as you're going to get in most complexes.

That's confirmed it going on the list, thank you.

There seem to be a monkey park and a camel place too.

Oh, how frustrating; it's not what you expect/hope from the Canaries.

@Ladolcevita233 the freak bad weather and DC being ill marred Tenerife for me ( the medical care was incredible) but I preferred the look of Lanzarote. No high rises allowed so lots of white buildings and I like the mountains. DS is 6 and loved the volcano trip and camel ride, and we hired bikes one day to cycle from PDC to Arecife.

I have plenty of friends who love Tenerife and I’d go back again if the price was reasonable for a hotel that meets our requirements. I’m quite fussy about things like a hotel gym, not all sleeping in the same room etc.

My family went to Lanzarote years ago and I think I remember the development restrictions thing being mentioned, so clearly Tenerife doesn't (or didn't) have that then.

It sounds like several of the uncontrollable things conspired to eff up your Tenerife stay!

This location has been chosen by DC's cousins family; the dcs barely get to see each other so we are trying to overlap (otherwise we'd probably be looking at the Balaerics etc again ).

We go annually to Costa Adeje. We stay in Hotel Isobel every time.. excellent facilities for children all ages. Children's pool for little ones, club for kids, entertainment early evening, disco for kids, pool activities daytime by organised entertainment team. Football, climbing frames, zip wire, Hotel like a village, various accommodations. service good. We return in Feb 24 for our 9th visit.
Look online at Hotel Isobel Adeje. Packages with airlines. Beaches short walk away. Miles of prom to walk, cycle along. Water parks by taxi or coach pricey but good. Hotel offers so much, no need to go far for fun.

The GF Isobel? Thats actually where the cousins are staying.

I was thinking that if we stayed in another place, the kids could benefit from two splash parks/pools.

(We'd def consider the water parks too).

Did you come across a y good family restaurants or do you eat at the hotel?

Thanks for all the info.

We stayed at the Jacaranda in 2019 with two under eight. They loved the six swimming pools and the kid's evening entertainment.

We visited Siam Park, they were a bit small for most of the rides but enjoyed the pools and the lazy river.

We explored the beaches and shops along the promenade and had a couple of nice meals out. I remember the 'cow' shop being a big hit, they spent their holiday money on stationery mostly.

Our usual holidays are spent exploring in the UK, so we were all happy to have a more relaxed break, enjoying the warmth and going in the sea without needing wetsuits.

LeonoraFlorence · 30/12/2023 09:00

GF Victoria and GF Isabel are lovely.

Siam park is a brilliant water park, Loro park is an amazing animal park/zoo. We aren’t keen on Aqualand or the monkey park.

If you go to Siam outdoor Mall, there are is a soft play, a few rides and bungee trampolines outdoors.

My girls are happy if they have a pool, they’re used to swimming most days. We like a couple of days at the beach where they enjoy water sports too.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/12/2023 09:02

I think the camel park is a place with camels, donkeys and goats, you can do a camel ride.

Yes, I think Aqualand definitely sounds like the best bet for 6-9 yr olds.

Were the animals not well cared for at the monkey park or ..?

What put you off about Aqualand?

Great tip re the Mall, thanks - it's good to have somewhere different to go once in a while.
