For me not the kids. Hate heights, don't want to freak out in front of the dc

It's not very. If you don't like heights it is a bit disconcerting especially if you move, because you've got a 360-degree view, but personally I am fine if I stay sitting on the bench in the middle, and I really don't like heights. I do feel faintly twitchy when DS leans on the window, though.

MilaMae · 13/03/2008 18:03

Feeling sick just thinking about my 4 year old twin boys and 3 year old dd in one of those pod things-god leaning on glass too. There is no way they could open the door????? My lot are all like houdini-they out number us!!!!!!

You can't open the door -- there are signs telling you not to lean on it, though. I just told DH to keep DS away from that bit because I knew I'd get flustered even if he wasn't exactly leaning (not sure I'd have taken DS on on my own).

Do they fill up the pods or can you have one to yourself if you want?

beansmum · 13/03/2008 18:18

I'm not great with heights but if you sit down in the middle you can look out rather than down and it isn't too scary. you'll be fine!

DH doesn't do heights, but he sat in the middle and was fine. We've been twice, once in daylight, and once at dusk - that was really pretty.

wheresthehamster · 13/03/2008 18:25

Thanks

mustrunmore · 13/03/2008 18:25

Not scarey because its so slow. Even less so if you sit on the bench.
Dh, however, went yellow and begged me to keep the boys away from the windows , even though he's worked on there many times

mustrunmore · 13/03/2008 18:26

When are you going?

nannyL · 13/03/2008 18:33

i dont find it scarey.... its great fun though

suwoo · 13/03/2008 18:41

My DH is scared shitless of heights, but managed the London Eye OK. It may have helped that it was a business thing he was on and he was surrounded by colleagues

uptomyeyes · 13/03/2008 18:43

Just make sure the kids don't hit the emergency button. Last time I went DS2, then 3yo brought the whole wheel to a grinding halt by hitting the emergency stop button. A stern voice boomed out all around the POD - "What is the emergency" even at this point I hadn't noticed what was going on and was still straining my neck to see if I could see where I live....I suppose we did get a longer trip out of it.

MilaMae · 13/03/2008 18:45

Bet he had a drink or 2 too. Sadly won't be an option for me would need to keep every single of my wits about me with my 3!!!!!!!

MilaMae · 13/03/2008 18:47

I was a bit scared on it, didn't want to look down or go near the edge, had horrible feeling that the glass might shatter and it didn't help that the dss kept trying to climb onto the bar going around it.

MingMingtheWonderPet · 13/03/2008 20:11

Sorry to be voice of doom, but I am scared of heights and went on it last year with my 5 and 2 year old.
I hated it!
Complete sense of humour failure whenever they went near the door, or indeed moved in any way.
Like saadia, my 2 kept trying to hang on the bar. We went with friends and I had to apologise for my ranting once we got down. I was awful!

I had been on it previously without the kids and it was ok-ish, I could take my time and sit on the bench in the middle and gradually get used to it without having to feel like a mum.

Aquarium is good though

MyEye · 13/03/2008 20:14

I find it worse every time I go on it. I went on it first with colleagues: no probs. Then with DD: a bit wobbly. With DD and DS: on the verge of screaming. I just sat on the bench and smiled weakly at them as they leaned their foreheads on the glass and waved at the boats below

lol

half way up I realised I was about to PANIC and had to rummage around in my handbag for a 10-year old dusty tablet of Valium
