What European city with teenagers

It's my DH's 50th next year and he'd like a family holiday- 2 teenagers of 15 and 17. He's said somewhere in Europe. We dont want high end shops or beaches but we do like lots of small independent type stores and some nice sights to see and lots of coffee shops n cafes. I've no idea where to start. Any suggestions?

I'd happily go back to Paris year after year

Rome and Prague are favourites of mine

If you haven’t been to Amsterdam then it is the perfect place for wandering, coffee and small independent shops. Plus lots of well known sights. Lots for teens.

Verona.

It's like Rome only smaller, cheaper and more manageable.

I have been to Verona. It has a nice coliseum and a few other things to see but way it compares to Rome in my opinion

We stayed in an airbnb quite near the Trevi Fountain and top of the Spanish Steps - out nearest metro station was Barberini. The metro was really easy to use and we took buses quite a few times too, plus the train out to Ostia Antica and on to the beach.

Ostia Antica is an old Roman City and is well worth a visit. It's in the Trainline to the beach so we made an early start, spent the morning there and then went to the coast for a seafood lunch and the beach.

Thank you for the info- really helpful. X

DS loved Krakow.

My two loved this little crypt, decorated with the bones of deceased monks.

And we spent a day walked the first 10km or so if the Appian Way.

Anyone know roughly when flights to Rome in April will get released to book? I only see them up until March at the moment and don't want to book accommodation until I book flights.

Easyjet flights are already up.

Parma.

Small enough that it's entirely walkable. Full of independent shops, art galleries, museums, lovely restaurants and cafes. Gorgeous cathedral square.

I don't see any from Scottish airports to Rome for any time after March ?
