Loveliest Eurocamp recommendations!

Indecisivelurcher · 22/09/2023 21:50

Inspired by my other thread, I would love your loveliest Eurocamp recommendations please!

Ideally (and not sure it's achievable) looking for somewhere with a heated pool and slides for kids, but not party party entertainment, spacious pitches, green setting, able to walk to a beach and a town.

For May half term or could wait till summer. Kids will be 9 & 7.

If you’re short on time, here’s a summary of the best Eurocamp sites Mumsnetters are recommending on this thread:

😎Domaine de Massereau, Languedoc, France

😎Domaine de Soleil Plage, Dordogne, France

😎Bella Italia, Lake Garda, Italy

😎Pra delle Torri, Adriatic, Italy

😎Cambrils Park, Costa Dorada, Spain

😎Domaine des Naiades, Riviera, France

Domaine de Massereau ticks all boxes except walk to a beach but is within walking distance of Sommieres, lovely little town on a river. Very green site and not loud and busy. Nice pool with slides. Lots to do in the locality- you can visit Nimes, Montpellier, Avignon, Arles and we went kayaking and horse riding

ZenNudist · 22/09/2023 22:05

Not a euro camp but look at hof van saksen. Amazing

stringbean · 22/09/2023 22:12

Agree about Massereau - we went this summer: such a lovely site, loads to do nearby, Sommieres is a lovely town within walking distance, pitches are huge, cycle path goes right past the site. Beach about 40 mins drive way but inevitably there's got to be a compromise Grin

jotunn · 22/09/2023 22:14

Le Soleil Plage on thé Dordogne. Gorgeous pools - warm and lots of them. On the banks of the river with a river beach and close to Sarlat which is beautiful.

Towns with cafes are a short drive but easy.

Plenty of space on the pitches and lots of space generally on the campsite.

Puppalicious · 22/09/2023 22:21

Bella Italia, lake garda

Not eurocamp but Huttopia. They are known for sites in beautiful locations. Our favourite is Carcans. They don't really have water slides or loads of entertainment, but they do have kids clubs and laid back entertainment in the evenings; family board games or a band.
The site has a pool, can't remember whether it has a second pool for littlies. The great thing is that it's next to a lake beach which is fab. Also it's a bike ride or a short drive to the fab sea beach with super waves.

The nearest town is a holiday beach town with some nice places to eat and some shops.

Not Eurocamp and sadly no beach but we had a fantastic holiday there pre covid.

You get acess to a decent pool, a travel card for public transport- bus stop & train station are within walking distance - so you only need to drive there & back.

It's a lovely srea with loads to do, both ££ and free stuff!

@BurntOrange @stringbean did you go to the beach at all when you were there? Did they have lots of entertainment and was it loud?

OP posts:
BurntOrange · 23/09/2023 08:39

@Indecisivelurcher No entertainment, it's a very quiet chilled site. We didn't do the beach in the end but Sete is about a 40 min drive from what I can remember and you can also go flamingo spotting in that area near the coast

stringbean · 23/09/2023 10:27

Didn't go to the beach when we were at Massereau but spoke to someone who said Espiguette was a nice beach. Very little entertainment when we were there at the end of August, no music at all that I was aware of, although restaurant on site busy every evening. Perfect site to take bikes as there's a cycle path that goes right past the site.

stringbean · 23/09/2023 10:31

Too far to go for a week in half term but perfect for the summer. My only caution would be if you have your own tent/van: I would avoid the pitches close to the cycle path on rows 500 and 600 in particular as they are quite low. They occasionally get heavy rain there and these pitches are prone to flooding if so

Bella Italia, lake garda

Can I ask about the logistics of getting there and around once there? Did you fly?

Puppalicious · 23/09/2023 11:02

We flew. You don’t need a car when there, as it’s within walking distance (and a has a shuttle train) to a lovely little town, Peschiera, with a train station if you want to go further afield. Lots of nice restaurants within walking distance of campsite too. We also hired bikes, and there’s ferries that can take you to various places around the lake.

hollyblueivy · 23/09/2023 11:07

It looks so nice there

Indecisivelurcher · 23/09/2023 11:08

Just purely going off eurocamp photos, I can't get into lake Garda at all for some reason. It looks very built up?

We went to Pra del torri in italy - kids loved it. Beach right there, 3 pools (Olympic pool for swimming, family pool with slides and a toddler pool) sports facilities, kids programme if you want it, multiple restaurants and a range of accommodation options from bring your own tent to a hotel (we had a 3 bed mobile home). Various companies have their own units on the site including British operators or book direct.

HalleLouja · 23/09/2023 11:12

Lake Garda is really beautiful. Quite touristy but lots to do. We went on a cable car and to Gardaland. Also there is a reliable ferry service to other towns on the lake.

We have been here too. Such a great resort. Plus easy to get from Venice airport by bus.

Venice and the other islands are easy to get to by boat. Plus Carole nearby is a lovely town.

Attictroll · 23/09/2023 11:33

Not sure about heated pool but two that tick walk to beach. Camping del Garda...we did it without a car .... Peschiera wasn't as touristy of some of the other Garda towns we visited and direct train to Verona for day out as well...we got a cab from airport and bus back to it 😊 lots of ferry trips...avoid Sirimone horrible tourist hell.

In Spain Park Playa Bara was huge but felt open and friendly. Flew into Barcelona and then train. Fabulous beach near by and a small modern town a short walk away. I would also look at Siblu. siblu.co.uk/camping/france/mediterranean-coast/occitanie/la-carabasse?arrival=2024-03-30&departure=2024-04-06&mrasn=1018767.1266802.wj8foEC8 this was big but green has heated pools and we walked through a field of sunflowers to the beach 🥰

Puppalicious · 23/09/2023 11:34

@Indecisivelurcher it is a very busy campsite in fairness. If you’re looking for peaceful tranquility, it’s probably not the right place.

AlphaAlpha · 23/09/2023 11:34

Le vieux port?

It's SW France, south of Bordeaux, a long drive or an option is to ferry to Santander/Bilbao and drive up (3/4 hours)

Hortin Plage is another good site, not as far south.

Or for may you could consider Duinrell, huge indoor water park.

Ash19 · 23/09/2023 15:46

Cambrils Park Resort is absolutely stunning.

BurntOrange · 23/09/2023 17:06

You could fly into Montpellier or Beziers to go to Massereau but we got the Eurostar and TGV down to Avignon and then hired a car from there - was a fun journey!

Indecisivelurcher · 23/09/2023 17:11

Am very admiring @BurntOrange would like to be the sort of person who does that and calls it fun. But fear me and dh would not be speaking by the time we got there!

@Indecisivelurcher haha fair enough! We originally had flights to Montpellier May half term of 2022 but the flights were cancelled on the day loads were cancelled so we rebooked for August and were worried to rebook flights as things hadn't settled since Covid so tried the train instead. This year we did Camping El Garrofer and flew to Barcelona.....much quicker and more straightforward than TGV!
