Has anyone done a Eurocamp hol, and was it reasonable? I'm eyeing up the south of France.

In French campsites boys/men have to wear Speedo type swimmers not shorts. My dh was not impressed. That said enforcement massively varies.

Be aware that in France its not that easy to be spontaneous with regards to eating out. Everything is booked and they have strict time sittings. They also aren’t the most child friendly x
Also don't rule out staying away from the coast. There are lots of lakes with beaches where the kids can swim, rent a paddle board/kayak and there is often a lifeguard at peak times. The Dordogne is lovely for this.

It's definitely not universal. We've stayed in a few and havent seen one that has any swimming shorts requirements for the last 20 years. You do need to check with the site though. We've stayed with Huttopia/Castels and none we've been at have required it but still best to check with individual sites (sometimes it will say on the website).

Went to a beach town for evening meal and had checked opening times of restaurants, nothing serving food before 6pm and most were after 7pm, even the place that was supposedly open all day was only drinks until 7! Me and the children were hungry by 6 so didn't relish waiting around... So worth bearing in mind and planning around it!

We went to Villanova in Spain. Was great - took the train and bus direct to the campsite door - very cheap. Eurocamp reps collected us and took us to their 'area' and kept our stuff till check in time.

The home was clean (yes had to make the bed), and the air con was worth it. Our 11 year old lived the kids club which was on 2/3 times a day. The pools were huge & warm (early July), life guards very observant and plenty of sunbeds.

The site itself had a huge amount of its' own daily entertainment but we stuck to Eurocamps.

The onsite supermarket was more than adequate and the restaurant had lovely food - c £50 - £60 for main course and soft drink for 4.

Finally the evening entertainment (hosted by the site) was great for children and adults alike - family entertainment e.g. magician followed by kids disco for 1 hour before a show / band - all great.

Only downsides for us - did clean home at end and children didn't want to leave the site to go sight seeing. Positives - no driving, lovely restaurant and free time while children at holiday club.

I managed to get an AI this yer in Turkey for £1700 in July.
Think my kids; 3, 16 would both love a euro amp in Italy/ somewhere hot. I've been pricing up though for next summer and flights alone are £2000! What am I doing wrong?
We can go before schools break up so is it really going to be extremely expensive??
