How do you leave your house before you go on holiday?

I'm the sort of person who has to come home to an immaculate house! Clean bed sheets, hoover lines, mopping us out of the house sort of thing!
DH really doesn't mind how the house presents when we return! He thinks mopping us out of the house is an unnecessary stress added to the already stressful task of packing for a family of 4.

Just curious to see if anyone else shares my passion for a deep clean before going on holiday or am I OTT and should help more with the loading of the car and come back to whatever state the house is in lol

And I can just as easily do it as you've described. Put it in the machine in the morning, go out for the day, take it out and dry it when we get back.

DH does the clearing up, washing up, all that stuff. And he cooks a fry up every morning.
We're quite old now, so we just like touring around in the car, having meals out. We don't do anything adventurous anymore.

My neighbours must think I’m on an extra long holiday as I look at my lawn. Life is too short to be getting stressed about such things. And I’ve never ever taken dirty washing on holiday. I see a holiday as no chores, no driving, cooking for fun ie BBQs, pizzas etc. we may walk or catch a bus but I’m not doing chores. Does your partner help with these chores too ?

"and regard a lawn not obviously mowed within an inch of its life as a clarion call to burglars"

Read the post, it's Police advice. I suspect they know more about burglars than MNers.

Looking at my downstairs neighbours garden, any burglar would assume the place has been empty for weeks if not months.

Are you asking me?
Yes, we share all the housework equally. We always have. And when the DC were young we shared all the childcare.

Always immaculate, it’s so lovely to get home to a clean & tidy home.

I would never go on holiday without:

redecorating every room before we go
buying new bedding and getting it ironed and on as we leave
snipping the lawn with nail scissors
Replacing all the toilets and ensuring they’re sealed with a level 5 forcefield

Clean sheets the night before, hoovered right through, bathrooms clean, washing done and put away, sink clear and dishwasher empty and bins empty and put out for the bin men. Hate coming home to a messy house.

Same i also spay lots of febrezze and open all the windows so we come home to a clean and lovely smelling home :)

I like a clean house to return to so will make sure all the laundry has been done, clothes put away, house clean, tidy and hoovered. I clean the bathrooms before I go to. It saves me the hassle when I get back and dh has come around to my way of thinking.
