HELP! Child passport expired and we travel on Saturday!

Endoftethermum1 · 30/07/2023 21:03

I feel so stupid but we have realised our 10 year old sons passport expired 11 days ago and we fly to Italy Saturday from Manchester.
we’ve looked at the gov.uk website and it seems to say child passports can’t be renewed in the office and you have to wait up to a week after an appointment to receive it urgently.
I am in Scotland on holiday with the kids but without the passport and could book an appointment only available in Glasgow for Tuesday but would have to chance it being delivered by Friday.
has anyone been in this situation before? What can I do? I feel sick thinking about it (& very silly)
ANY ADVICE WELCOME !

I did the fast-track appointment in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago, and I got my new passport in about three days. Good luck!

You have to cancel or change your holiday. How does this happen? Don’t people check when booking a holiday?

That’s ever so helpful…. Not!

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 02/08/2023 18:16

When I had a similar experience to this, I did actually tell the courier lady delivering my daughter’s
passport that I loved her, such was my relief at it arriving the day before we flew off on holiday. Poor courier lady was a bit 🤨

WimbyAce · 02/08/2023 18:20

They send them in a random van don't they? I remember 1 of ours turned up in the evening.

THEY DON’T NEED SIGNING FOR!!

really?? mine did (2021)

youhavenoidea123 · 02/08/2023 18:23

Mine also needed to be signed for this year when it was delivered.

RausageSoul · 02/08/2023 18:24

You need to have your name on your front door for the courier to post it through though! I had to print a makeshift sign (that's still there to this day!)

IAmKenough · 02/08/2023 18:25

Brilliant! That first cocktail will taste all the better for the drama too!
