2 days in Sorrento- what should we do?

We are going to a friends wedding next week, flying into Naples then hoping to take a ferry to Sorrento (would people recommend this or taxi?). We have a day either side of the wedding I’ve looked but don’t know where to start, it’s just hubby and I. ANY suggestions/tips/restaurants hugely welcome! I really want to make the most of our short time there

We took the Circumvesuviana train Naples to Sorrento- it was fine and an experience but we did get a car transfer back to Naples when going home. An Italian lady on the train down from Rome winced when we told her our plans to catch the Circumvesuviana and told us to be on the lookout for pickpockets. As I said it was fine but we weren’t very relaxed!

Yes you have to be really on the lookout for pickpockets.

we took the boat to positano and had lunch up the hills at Mediterraneo, went to the beach and drank margaritas in the sea.

drove along the amalfi coast and stopped in minor for seafood and limoncello spritz
had dinner on a cliffside restaurant in amalfi.

It so busy though! i found positano the best and will back next year!

Thank you all so much. I’ve already reached out to the two restaurants mentioned and tried to make bookings for the evenings we are there.

out of interest for those who went to capri for the day, is there one your operator/company to travel there with?

We just booked the ferry which you can do by going down to the port itself. There are little kiosks selling tickets.

I loooove Sorrento and all the places to visit around there. We have decided to go somewhere different this year and although I'm looking forward to seeing somewhere new I really sad not to be going back this year.

Walk down to the old port and have a meal at one of the waterside restaurants. If you order a fish platter, you’ll be served a selection of whatever they’ve caught that day. It’s not fancy, but it’s good.
