Disneyland Paris

I'm a single parent taking my 7 year old to Disneyland Paris in early July. We've booked a hotel nearby but it's outside the park (no meals included). We'll also need to get a taxi from the airport to the hotel, then trains to the park.

Can anyone give me tips about what to expect etc? Also the two day park tickets we have are emailed as a square orange box with a QR code. Is this normal (got a deal on wowcher from best holidays UK, and so far not impressed with their service)?

We're flying with easy jet but the agent is now saying we only have hand luggage (not what he said before).

Is anyone else going in July (particularly single parents) that we could meet up with the share the fun?

Any tips or advice will be most welcome!

We went very recently. Take food in with you. I cannot stress this enough. My kids ate in queues. My 6 yr was fine with the walking. She sat on the floor If she was tired. Your boy can do the same. He doesn’t need a seat. If you buy food in the park you’ll run out of money on day one. It is SO expensive. We ate breakfast in the apartment. Took in lunch and bought dinner. That was about £60 for a burger and fries for 4. Download the app for maps and queue times. And definitely stay until closing. It is so worth it for the fireworks. Get there early for shows and plan the rides you want to do first

You can’t take meat, dairy, fresh fruit or veg into France from the UK.

Thanks everyone for all your tips!

I have a two day ticket but I'm worried about it because we have a ticket each which has the first day on it but not the second date, which is actually his birthday. It just says "2 days, 2 parks". With only 1 ticket each won't they take them on the first day leaving us with no ticket for the second day?

We are using Charles de gallery Airport but staying at hotel campanile marne la vallee torch. Apparently that's not too far from the resort? Someone made a good point about how we get back if we leave the resort at 11pm..I'll email the hotel. I doubt my son can stay up that late anyway.

I am so glad there's a mc donalds (the que must be massive) as my son has allergies and is a fussy eater. I heard they have one in the resort, which means he can have something to eat. We have room only and no kitchen facilities, so a packed lunch will be tricky. That was a mistake, I should have gone bed and breakfast. I have emailed the hotel about this too. £60 for burger and chips at the resort!!! Crazy!! I defo need to find a way of bringing food.

Also I've only just realised that our easy jet package does not include hold luggage after being told that it would on the phone. I'm usually good at planning holidays but I've not been on the ball with this one, which is why I really appreciate all the advice here.

Thank you!

You scan you ticket at the turnstiles and keep them.

purpleboy · 22/05/2023 19:23

I think you should be able to download your ticket onto your mobile via the Disney app?

There is a small convenience shop outside the parks by the train station.
They do meal deal type sandwiches or other things that might do for lunch.

Gymmum82 · 22/05/2023 19:40

you just scan the same ticket. They don’t take it off you. We had a 3 day ticket and scanned it over the 3 days.
Check your hotel is on the metro line. We stayed at Valle de Europe and the trains rain very late then just walked to the apartment from there. In terms of food take baguette. Ham. Crisps. Snacks etc you don’t need a kitchen if you’re off site you will find a supermarket easy. Also you won’t need checked bags. We did 4 days with hand luggage. You’ll be fine you don’t need a lot and easier not to have to carry it all too

stayathomer · 22/05/2023 21:25

If it’s his birthday if he goes to reception in eurodisney they give you a badge- it doesn’t get you much, but might get you some nods etc to make a big deal of him! Not sure if you need to bring proof of age- they didn’t ask for it, but it could have just been that day!

Floralnomad · 22/05/2023 21:37

I’d be careful with the McDonald’s if your child has allergies as they are completely different to UK McDonald’s eg not gf .

Howandwhy · 22/05/2023 21:45

Thanks again guys,

I'll be careful in the mc donalds (he usually just has fries but I do need to check what else the've cooked in the same oil). I feel relieved to hear at least two people say the same ticket was scanned over several days. I thought I'd been ripped off lol. So this one ticket each should serve 2 days and apparently as one has the date on it, you don't need to book the days in advance.

I find it very difficult to travel light but I'll give it a go. The sandwich shop will be fine for me but not for my son especially with a possible language barrier. We usually go full board and i bring a box of weetabix with me and just use he hotels cows milk. It's difficult with fussy eaters who have allergies.

All this advice is making me feel much more confident! Thank u x

Also I will go to reception to get the badge. He will absolutely love all the attention!

Torcy is about 30 mins by car from DLP.

GCWorkNightmare · 22/05/2023 21:54

See the map. It’s 10 mins drive from DLP to the Aqualagoon on the right hand side of the map. Your hotel is where the pink pin is.

Routes between the park and hotel.

I stayed right by where you are staying.
I've added some screenshots for you.
I've circled the train station for you, and just above it I've circled another area, this is basically a load of restaurants, there is also a spar shop which will have some basic staples, so hopefully that will help on the food front. The train is really easy and quick to get into the parks, it's only about 10 minutes, and I think was about €2 per person.

Another tip is usually only one of the 2 parks is open for early entry (on-site staying guests only) so if you head to the park without early entry about 1 hour before park opening, you should get right to the front of the queue and will be able to go in and do a couple of rides straight away with no queue, we did the 2 avengers rides, tower of terror and slinky before the queues built up, so well worth it.

Try and make a plan of the rides you want to do and prioritize the rides that usually have the biggest queue.

Both parks have EMH now.

Both parks have EMH now.

Well it says on websites both are open early but studios wasn't when we went last summer. We were one of the first in. We didn't expect it because it was all advertised as both parks open early so we're very pleased to find out this wasn't the case.

McDs will be no good for you if your son needs GF. There is a Five Guys that will be fine (for chips and bun-less burgers) though, near McDs in the village, which is the area literally just outside of the parks. Really recommend joining some of the facebook groups, they are absolute mines of information about options for different dietary needs. My son is coeliac and we're going tomorrow; I have written out exactly what he can have and where to makes things easier for all of us.

Did you see that they had to cancel a load of parades and shows today due to staff striking?

Coffeesnob11 · 24/05/2023 23:06

I think we may have booked the same holiday through the same agent. I also am at that hotel with my son. I haven't been impressed with them at all. We have 2 days of dlp tickets (I have fast passed it for one day) and 1 day in Paris. We are going the start of July. Its his first holiday abroad and its just me and him.

brogueish · 25/05/2023 07:15

Yes, I saw that things were a bit disrupted in the 23rd. It’s all good though, stuff can get cancelled for any reason at any time! Are you there now? I hope you didn’t miss out on anything you’d wanted to catch if so.

Sadly not.

Floralnomad · 25/05/2023 16:51

Tuesday seems to be consistently the worse day for disruption due to the strikes , it’s been going on for a few weeks now

@GCWorkNightmare thanks this helps put the distance into perspective!

@brogueish what is GF? Five guys use nut oil for their fries, so he definitely can't eat that.
