We live in Devon so bored of Cornwall. Looking to explore other interesting places in the UK ideally that are dog friendly. We also have a teenager.

Pembrokeshire - reasonable for air bnb's, loads to do and the most beautiful beaches! (Barafundle bay and Marloes sands especially) Tenby is a gorgeous place to visit too

BillyNoM8s · 19/03/2023 19:43

We're going to Northumberland in April. Looks lovely.

MichaelAndEagle · 19/03/2023 19:44

Seaside, I'd say north Yorkshire coast - Filey, Robin Hood Bay etc. Or Northumberland.
Countryside, I'd say Lake District or Snowdonia.

JulesJules · 19/03/2023 19:46

Northumberland - although it's a long way for you

PolkaDotMankini · 19/03/2023 19:49

The New Forest and the Isle of Wight aren't too far from you. You could also take a ferry crossing to the Channel Islands.

Ashdown Forest and the area around it are gorgeous too.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 19/03/2023 19:53

Pembrokeshire, North Norfolk, Cotswolds

StrongandNorthern · 19/03/2023 19:54

Northumberland. Just brilliant!
Long drive for you tho.
Trains to to Alnmouth (gorgeous). The coastal bus service is amazing - reliable and regular. Just a thought.

Hbh17 · 19/03/2023 19:55

Suffolk cost. Gorgeous beaches, great food, usually good weather - try Southwold or Aldeburgh as a base.

HeddaGarbled · 19/03/2023 19:56

Might the teenager enjoy a city break for a change?

KilljoysMakeSomeNoise · 19/03/2023 19:58

My teens loved the Isle of Wight, but it depends what yours are into. We walked the coast path and did a bike ride - we hired bikes, as well as a beach day and visiting tourist places like Alum Bay.

Verite1 · 19/03/2023 20:02

I love new forest. Had a couple of great holidays there during covid travel bans.

HeddaGarbled · 19/03/2023 20:03

Or near one of the big theme parks?

Lulu1919 · 19/03/2023 20:05

Somerset ...lovely

Vintagevixen · 19/03/2023 20:06

Hastings/E Sussex coast. dog friendly - lots of walks in Hastings country park.

For Teens - largest indoor skate park in Europe, beach, Crazy golf, general mooching about around the Old Town with loads of places to eat/drink.

Easy reach for other attractions in E Sussex and W Sussex - Camber sands, Eastbourne, Drusillas Zoo, loads of NT places.

Choconut · 19/03/2023 20:13

Snowdonia, so beautiful and lots for teens with all the zip world stuff.

Havana2345 · 19/03/2023 20:15

Peak District, Lake District, Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia, Norfolk. I live in Staffordshire, there's some nice places here, too.

familyissues12345 · 19/03/2023 20:16

North Wales - Snowdonia in particular. Gorgeous scenery, dog friendly, loads to do.

We stayed at Ogwen bank holiday park - very small and quiet but loads to do locally

smellyflowers · 19/03/2023 20:17

York

Gobimanchurian · 19/03/2023 20:17

Pembrokeshire. Fave place in all the world.

North Wales is an outdoorsy destination with lots of outdoor pursuits, rock climbing, zip wires, etc if you/kids like that kind of stuff.. you have the mountains and the beaches and castles in Harlech, Conwy, Caermarthen etc. Gorgeous.

For city breaks with tons of history, Edinburgh or Glasgow are lovely and have much more than City to offer - Edinburgh is close to the seaside, walk up Arthur's Seat, Calton Hill is a must for amazing city views. Glasgow you can head to the Trossachs /Loch Lomond as well as the city.

countdowntonap · 19/03/2023 20:19

Anglesey. Beautiful and very dog friendly. Close to all of the adventures Snowdonia has to offer.

Suetcrust · 19/03/2023 20:20

Pembrokeshire.
The Gower (Wales) has fab beaches.
I don’t understand why folks don’t flock to Wales like they do to Cornwall. Wales is fabulous & lots more spacious.

CC4712 · 19/03/2023 20:22

What are you and the family into that would be interesting? Museums, beaches, mountain hikes, city breaks etc etc??? This might help us narrow down places to go.

Couldn't agree more! Wales is all round amazing and compared to Devon/Cornwall/The Lakes is really reasonable, from parking, ice creams, eating out. So many happy memories from Welsh holidays with my kids.

anyolddinosaur · 19/03/2023 20:31

What does your teen like doing? City break and maybe somewhere they could think of going to uni. Maybe Cardiff, it has cheap uni accommodation. Or if Oxbridge is possible take them punting at Oxford or Cambridge. Or at a lower level North Wales and Bangor.

Meltinthemiddle · 19/03/2023 20:39

My teen likes theme parks and being outdoors. Not one for laying on the beach but likes being active. Will definitely look at Wales and maybe an air b and b. Would ideally like to take the dog unless we can find boarding.
