I've only ever been to Antigua and loved it. DH has been Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados with work and has liked them all. He did have some downtime at both as during covid so had to isolate in hotels when arriving. We plan to go to Barbados this year but keeping an eye on this thread as open to other suggestions.

@Neverknowinglyunderbold I've just had a quick Google Dominican Republic is its own Island and gained its own independence.

I agree with you about your post abouve though there's always a nasty undertone I notice when certain people speak on various carribean Islands. You would think one knows that they are going to a 3rd world place before arriving. So offensive and to compare it to Greece its laughable.

Are you speaking about Dominica or Dominican Republic? I don’t even have to Google because I’m very sure Dominican Republic is not an island by the definition of an island. The island is Hispaniola. Absolute fact.

St Lucia is beautiful. Very mountainous . Mix of French, African and Caribbean culture.

Not a fan of Barbados. Feel as though I am in England but with nice weather. Too many British tourists

I sailed around St. Vincent and the Grenadines, absolutely amazing, Palm Island was very relaxing. Also enjoyed Montserrat.

St Lucia is nice, but it's quite hard to travel around due to the mountains. Sailing round it is fun, though.

AviMav · 12/03/2023 12:19

@Neverknowinglyunderbold apologies I stand corrected.

We are going to St Lucia next month, staying at the Royalton, party of 10 to celebrate my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary, anyone stayed here before? Our first trip the the Caribbean.

Wasn't keen on Barbados.
Did a two centre to Antigua and Nevis which was fab and 8 of us chartered a private plane to St Kitts for lunch at another sugar plantation. Only time I think I've ever felt rich😁
St Lucia was beautiful too.
These days I can't be arsed to go long haul, if I could I'd probably try Grenada.

Some were a few years ago, some much more recently but based on the experiences at the time:

Canouan & Nevis first choice.
St Lucia, Antigua & Barbados, yes.

Jamaica lastly. In fact as long as there are other islands I probably wouldn't return. However know many people who feel more positively about.

I'd always return to Barbados, but Canouan was real luxury. Nevis was lovely, very small & quiet.

I'd like to do Grenadines again and BVI but the chance of that needs more money than I have currently.

I agree with Mauritius, I found it like a huge Caribbean island with lots of different nationalities, would return.

Shhh don't tell people about Nevis ! It's a horrid island, nothing there, 😉

Kranke · 12/03/2023 17:39

I liked Guadeloupe, lots to do, but helps if you speak French!

Ah yes of course! Don't know what I was thinking of, must've mixed it up with that mountain somewhere in the UK. As most people pronounce it wrong hopefully anyone booking will get the mountain 😂

fussychica · 13/03/2023 18:39

Nevis did you say, oh we just used it as a place to catch a plane to St Kitts as there's nothing there 😄😉

Absolutely nothing. To be honest possibly too small and boring for most. Wink
