I used to work in the travel industry many years ago, haven’t been abroad for a few years. Obvious reasons.

would really like a Europe beach holiday during school summer holiday 2024 I just can’t believe what you have to pay these days for a pretty standard AI week abroad 😮 well 10 days.
2 adults and 3 kids. Like £6000 plus!!

just talking it over really unless anyone has any great ideas ! Flying from pref Stansted.

We are going in April this year so not really comparable but last year we did a week in august in Spain self catering for £1600 (total) for 3 adults and 1 child. 4* hotel with kids entertainment. We book with low cost travel agents online and a budget airline separately. Our April hol is £2500 for 6 adults and 1 child. In Portugal

We've booked for this year at a reasonable price using EasyJet and direct hotel bookings.

I don't think prices have gone up that much like people keep saying. I travelled during covid and last year. I'm booked for this May and I got quite a good deal you have to keep looking and alter your nights. It was cheaper for me to do 9 nights than 7!

Agree £1000 per person for summer holidays is average in fact if your looking at July/Aug that's a bargain AL for 10 nights.

I paid around £900pp last year and that was June term time! For Greece 11nights

@AviMav I suppose it depends on the type of holiday, I assure you Orlando holidays have increased massively since 2020!

AviMav · 04/03/2023 18:58

@kljk78 fair point your right. It just means if you want a holiday within budget you have to compromise on the destination or swop 10 days for 7 days. Orlando isn't cheap anyway.

@AviMav the toughest thing about the US is the poor pound to dollar conversion rate currently and their food prices have rocketed. I priced up our Greece holiday from last year to this year and yes it wasn't much different.
