Long haul guaranteed best weather

Looking for 2 weeks early July , back before schools break up.
Where can we go that's pretty much guaranteed hot sunny weather.
Not looking at Europe. I'm a little unsure reading about Asia & the Caribbean as it seems like the off /wet season.
We like a mix of places to wander round and see, but also some rest and lounging on a lovely beach with warm water to swim in. Not interested in shopping or hitting the tourist trails.
Any ideas you well travelled lot?

I think it’s a good time for Bali?

a lot of tropical places run the risk of a quick shower- Thailand, Vietnam etc. they have bits that are good to go to in July.

InMySpareTime · 28/12/2022 20:23

The East coast of Sri Lanka is dry in July (though I'm not sure how well their tourist industry is doing after the last couple of years)

InMySpareTime · 28/12/2022 20:25

Perhaps Egypt, Israel or Morocco, but they'll be really hot in July!

Wakk · 28/12/2022 20:26

If you want guaranteed hot weather I wouldn't discount Greece or Turkey. Weather is lovely there in July.

123rd · 28/12/2022 21:10

Thank you. Turkey /Egypt would be far too hot for me.
Also, Dubai and surrounding places don't appeal to us.
Will have a look at Bali. Would absolutely love to go to SL, but did think about how it would be. I think things have settled down there a bit now , haven't they?
Would you agree Caribbean would be a bit hit and miss weather wise ?

Our summer is the worst time for the Caribbean

HundredMilesAnHour · 28/12/2022 21:44

Bali's your safest bet in Asia for weather in July.

Twizbe · 28/12/2022 21:55

Bali. We went on honeymoon there at the end of July / August.

We combined it with KL which was very humid but interesting. Not sure what areas like Penang are like in July but also very beautiful place.

Mrsmch123 · 29/12/2022 22:45

We went to the Caribbean every June/July for 5 years. I can count on one hand the number of wet days we had. If it rains it's normally short and really heavy. Think we had one day were it rained from about 10 till 4.

minipie · 29/12/2022 23:47

Bali yes but also other bits of Indonesia - Lombok, Gili islands, Borneo, Perhentian islands off Malaysia.

Thailand I think the eastern islands (Koh Samui etc) are ok at that time but it’s not ideal.

I seem to recall it’s a good time for the Seychelles and East Africa - Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar.

Why not Europe though - it’s got everything you’re looking for and much less travel time and jetlag? If I had two weeks out of school holidays and no DC I’d love to go island hopping in Croatia or Greece

AllIwantforChristmas22 · 31/12/2022 09:21

Maldives can be ok in July, depends on where you go. Not much to wonder and see though, more of a beach and water sports holiday. Would avoid SL.

HermioneWeasley · 31/12/2022 09:24

Southern Caribbean would be fine - places like Aruba

Hobbesmanc · 31/12/2022 13:48

Mauritius has great all year weather. July isn't rainy and the temperature is balmy. Never scorching and always a lovely breeze. It's stunning and there's more to do than in the other Indian Ocean destinations. Better value too

pattihews · 31/12/2022 14:10

July's the best time of year temperature-wise to visit some parts of Australia such as the Queensland coast and the Northern Territories, but it can't be guaranteed to be dry — though it's outside the rainy season.

Echo others wondering why Europe is out of the question? The Algarve, Greece, Croatia, Italy, Sicily... all reliably hot and dry.

AllIwantforChristmas22 · 31/12/2022 14:25

Isn’t Mauritius cold in July? My friend went slightly later (August) and it was wamer in england.

pattihews · 31/12/2022 14:27

Yes, Mauritius is around 22 degrees in July and can also be windy. Dry, but shorter sunny days.

I think it depends which side of the island you go?

We went in July to tie into a work trip, and we’re advised to go to the south
We stayed in the Lux Le Morne and had brilliant weather

It might have been coincidence but the couple of trips we did to the north were worse weather.

That said, it’s definitely a sub-optimal time to go. We only went because we were ‘in the area’ and it saved on extra flights to link the holiday. If you want to tick Mauritius off your list, I would go at a time of year when the weather is more certain

TizerorFizz · 31/12/2022 18:37

The Caribbean isn’t perfect in early July but generally any rain is a short burst. A big humid afterwards, then it’s great.

USA Cape Cod has great beaches and you can start off in Boston. Eastern Canada would be lovely. California would be good too.

I also think western France would be great.

123rd · 31/12/2022 19:20

Thanks everyone. We have done lots of Europe.
And east coast of USA

Honeyroar · 31/12/2022 19:24

America would be safe. If you’ve done the East Coast perhaps do Arizona (the Canyon, it would be boiling low down) or California? I’ve been to Mauritius many times in July when it’s poured.

QueenofLouisiana · 31/12/2022 19:25

Singapore or Malaysia? It’ll rain for about 20 minutes every afternoon, at this point you go and get a drink or pop in a shop. The rest of the day will be hot and sunny.

My in laws have just returned from a holiday to Sri Lanka and absolutely loved it.

20DigitCombination · 01/01/2023 15:44

How about Cape Verde? No a lot to see once you're there but the weather was an ideal temperature for us in August.

AllIwantforChristmas22 · 01/01/2023 15:54

@20DigitCombination considering Cape Verde for Easter. Where did you stay? Did you feel safe? And would you go with small children?

i don’t need lots to do just a resort with a beach, pool and mini disco (the TUI resorts seem to offer that but all have mixed reviews 😣)

FortyFacedFuckers · 01/01/2023 15:56

Mexico technically it is the rainy season but I have been multiple times in the first 2 weeks of July and on some occasions no rain at all, 1 occasion rain until lunchtime one day & a couple of times rain over night or for 30 seconds/1 minute for 1/2 days per holiday.
