Where are you going on holiday in 2023?

We're off to Mallorca for a week next summer, staying near Sa Pobla: Finca Son Caldera. I've never been before but the hotel looks gorgeous and I'm looking forward to a lazy week away. I was hoping for a Black Friday discount on flights but sadly not. Booked anyway as they weren't getting any cheaper!

What are your holiday plans for next year?

@Lysianthus Ibiza accommodation is quite varied so depends what you're planning on doing/your budget.

We stay in Es Vive (now Mim Es Vive) as it's quite in the thick of it but quieter/more grown up. Rooms are small but it has a boutique feel and a spa and a nice rooftop bar. Sunbathing by the pool is limited but you're close to the beach clubs around playa d'en bossa/salines etc.

If you want a real party hotel you can look at Ushuaia/Hard Rock/Destino/Pacha. Other options at the expensive end are eg Nobu/Six Senses/7 pines. Six senses is apparently amazing if you're looking for a quieter time/wellness (although £££).

Depending on how many there are of you/how long you're going for a villa might be a good option if you're happy to hire cars.

[I realise the question wasn't aimed at me but Ibiza is my favourite subject :) ]

Australia for my sister's wedding.

Lbnc2021 · 28/11/2022 01:00

Berlin in February for school birthday

4 days in Spain with a friend in April

Belguim/Holland/Luxembourg tour in summer

Might try and squeeze in a couple of weekends away after that

Week in skegness butlins in may 😂

We stayed there for a football tournament earlier this year. The DC loved it!

@JW13 Thank you! That's so helpful. Definitely not party hotels, this is for me plus DC in their 20s who aren't keen on the big clubbing scene. We're all fans of Chicane etc and have visions of chilled music, wine and sunsets! ££ wise we're probably middle of the road. I guess knowing vaguely which part to aim for (and be away from mass drunkenness!) is a start. Thanks again.

Trying to figure out what I can fit in around my friends wedding in June and then hen in May.

I wanted Costa Rica but I think April is the best time to go and I'll be balls deep in her wedding shenanigans. I'd quite like to go back to Japan, but partner will want at least one beach holiday this year.

We try to do 3-4 holidays per year but not sure if the cost of living will significantly trim that down!

ihateexcel · 28/11/2022 08:56

Disneyworld Florida booked for end of May/June with the kids. Significant planned required but I love all the research and working out what we are going to do.
Week in the summer will probably be Dumfries and Galloway for a week in a holiday rental and alot cheaper and more chilled.

catlovingdoctor · 28/11/2022 08:59

Goa for 10 days as a reward after university finals

For sunsets you want to be on the north side of the island. We stayed in Port des Torrents last year which is beautiful, couple of chilled beach bars and restaurants and walking distance to San Antonio if you wanted to go down that route. We were in Tui Blue because my kids are the age where AI is the best option. Going to Es Cana this year, again AI but for the girls weekend we are hiring a villa which would be my preferred option!

whatthehelldowecare · 28/11/2022 09:20

Paris in Feb with DH and DSD13, a hen weekend in Malaga in June and then DH and I are finally going to get on our honeymoon in July! Nothing booked yet, but hoping for something lavish in Greece!

HairyToity · 28/11/2022 09:30

Nowhere booked. DH has had a spinal injury, and taking each day at a time. Can't think too far ahead. Maybe Barmouth for July.

Just one trip booked at the moment to Boston, Cape Cod and Nantucket.

'Just' casually visiting the East coast eh.

Lysianthus · 28/11/2022 22:22

@AriettyHomily thank you, really useful stuff!

BabyFour2023 · 28/11/2022 22:24

We’re going to Cape Verde in April & then have a week in Menorca with all the family in May.
We won’t be going away during the summer next year as our baby is due end of July so will probably try and book something for October.

Moonshine86 · 28/11/2022 22:25

Was due to go to Florida end of May / June but TUI have cancelled the flights due to rescheduling!!!

Mother87 · 28/11/2022 22:40

Maldives in Feb with DH after family dinner for big birthday... Mykonos or Mallorca with two girlfriends in June/July. Kalkan in south-east Turkey in August... not 'celebrated' anything for some time so hoping for a 're-set' of sorts...

shiningstar2 · 28/11/2022 22:41

DH and I are going to Tenerife with DD, her husband and teen grandkids. I1 days AI. Looking forward to it.our. Dgs will be 18 and dgd 15 so we are very aware that these family times won't go on indefinitely and we are grateful that at 71 we will still hopefully be git enough to enjoy it. DD is a teacher so August it is. Temperaturea not quite as hot as Greece or Spanish Mainland. Have been before and found it copeable so really looking forward to it. 3 rooms needed these days so not cheap but are splitting the overall cost to help out. DH and I would also like to have a break abroad just ourselves but nothing booked yet. Energy bills ext are making us a bit cautious about booking a second holiday 🤔

MintChocCornetto · 28/11/2022 22:46

A week in Chamonix with friends May HT is the only thing we've booked so far.

Seriously considering an interrailing trip round Europe in the summer.

I usually find cheap flights and build a holiday round that (hence Chamonix) but there's not many bargains currently

JW13 · 29/11/2022 21:25

@Lysianthus I agree with @AriettyHomily on location. You want to be North/West for sunset. The classic sunset bars are on the West Coast (Mambo/Cafe Del Mar) but you won't want to stay in San Antonio itself.

I don't know that area so well any more. Another option if you're not so set on sunsets is the north east of the island. I've stayed near Sant Carles de Peralta before and loved it. Nice restaurants in the north as well (highly recommend La Paloma).

MinnieMountain · 30/11/2022 06:02

Saas-Fee at Easter.
South of France in May.
My dad’s in Pembrokeshire in July.
Slovenia (alone) in September.
Pompei and Rome in October.
DH is taking DS to Butlin’s with PILs in June (double win for me).

Kualma · 30/11/2022 10:59

February: Thailand for Valentine’s week (as me and DH call it)
April: Jamaica for Easter
May: going to São Paulo, Brazil to visit my husband’s home country
September: Santiago, Chile for our anniversary

Will probably have a few long weekends somewhere in the UK or city break in Europe

That’s some fucking carbon footprint you’ve got there

Pythonese · 30/11/2022 19:54

Sweden, to see my relatives.

Thanks! I offset it by not having children, owning a car, not eating meat & having the same wardrobe for about 4 years! 😀

That also explains how you can afford it 😂
