Eurocamp recommendations near a airport..

Can anyone recommend a eurocamp holiday that’s not too far from the airport but is still in a nice location? Preferably close to a beach, places to eat, with a pool as I will have a 10&12 year old with me.

Im looking to book something for next year and I don’t mind which country aslong as it’s abroad.

I would prefer to catch a flight then get a ferry.

Iv never done a eurocamp type holiday before but I spent a lot of money on a holiday this year so looking to take a much cheaper holiday next year. I’m finding the website tricky as I keep looking at places and they seem to be miles from an airport.

MNHQ update: If you’re short on time, here’s a summary of the best Eurocamp sites Mumsnetters are recommending on this thread:

😎Bella Italia, Lake Garda, Italy

😎Camping El Garrofer, Sitges, Spain

😎Camping Domaine des Naiades, Côte d'Azur, France

😎Duinrell, Wassenaar, Netherlands

😎Union Lido, Venetian Coast, Italy

I was going to suggest Beziers airport, then either Serignan Plage or Vias Plage but others beat me to it! Both a very short taxi ride from the airport. We love yelloh village Aloha campsite as it is right on the fantastic Serignan beach, but if you want more life around the campsite then Vias is great but I don't have a specific campsite to suggest there.

@Jessica60 we flew into Verona for Bella Italia and Venice Marco Polo for Union Lido.

@Forzatesoro we stayed with Eurocamp the first time at Bella Italia (9 years ago) but the van was really disappointing (old & tired, although it was their top spec so the website showed something new even though they had no new vans on that site) so the next time (5 years ago) we went with Selectcamp as they had newer vans - but it wasn’t cheaper I don’t think.

At Union Lido we went with Human Travel, having seen their vans at Bella Italia - the best quality but at a price to go with it!

If you Google the campsite it will usually bring up a list of operators, and you can compare prices, but generally you get what you pay for.

Some fantastic advice from others here. I do exactly what others have said, use Canvas and Eurocamp to get an idea of the campsites I’m interested in, then go to the main website of that campsite to find out more about which operators use that campsite. I like to stay at campsites with Eurocamp on site as it tends to mean more Brits which means more kids for my dc to speak to.

There is usually a campsite map which is very handy to show you which operators are located in which part of the campsite. So you might find for example that Canvas are in a better location than Eurocamp. You can also search for videos of the campsite, European ones often have a video tour done by a man on a bike which is great for getting an idea of the layout.

Jet2 also do a couple of flight inclusive holidays to campsites, I’ve seen them do Bella Italia plus a couple in Sardinia and Croatia in the past. They will likely be more pricey but less daunting as transfers are included. And there are sometimes free child places to them which brings the cost down

@ToJustGo @SlipperyLizard - can you stay and watch your kid at the kids activities at Bella Italia?

Ive just come back from a lovely holiday in croatia that was a beautiful campsite with beach access, and under 10 miles from Split airport. We did hire a car, but i think it would have actually been fine without one, especially if it was in season. I went with Canvas rather than eurocamp, but a lot of the campsites have both companies operating from it.

I think both eurocamp and canvas have option to search for sites near an airport and eurocamp have a page about car free holiday suggestions.

@achangeisafoot i expect so,

SlipperyLizard · 30/10/2022 10:12

Sorry pressed post too soon! I expect so, but ours didn’t really do them - do you mean things like sports etc?

ToJustGo · 30/10/2022 11:13

@achangeisafoot - in Bella Italia we spent all of our time with the dc so not sure. Most big campsites have a kids club similar to hotels but our boys never really wanted to go to them. The exception was at Marina di Venezia where they went to football club - we didn’t watch, instead we enjoyed a coffee in peace! If you choose a smaller site the kids tend to make their own activities together

We did Duinrell in the Netherlands this year. We got the ferry but lots of people fly to Amsterdam. Theme Park and Water Park on site. However you have to pay a discounted price with Eurocamp and other operators for the Water Park and direct it is free. (Direct is more expensive.)

Thank you!
Currently boiling my brain with options for Lake Garda.. myself and 16&12 boys.

Sadly my Boys don't want to go back to France - I used Yelloh Village and found them great.
