Centre Parks - any tactics to get it really cheap?

All my DS friends have gone on holiday. He is getting lonely and bored. We haven't been able to go away for some time.

I would like to ask another mum and his friend to go to Centreparks with us but it will all depend on the price.

Are there any tactics to get it as cheap as possible?

What about Potters? We went with my friend and her DS and had a blast. Wasn't that expensive either although this was 6 years ago.

Butlins op. If you can do it out of summer holidays you can bring uIt in under budget

Notolandfill - wow thank you for this. I just looked it up and found a great site called Theobalds near London. Amazing I would never have found all these great ideas.

Anne Elliot - This suggestion is fabulous too. All inclusive too. I never knew that even existed in the UK and it says it's good for older children too.

The Air bnb idea sounds lovely.

I have heard of Butlins but I don't want to take DS out of school, as it's an important year this year.

@user1471464218 Check the local school holidays for the country the CP is in. They don't always overlap with ours and so are cheaper. Easter in The Netherlands, for example.

Go to one abroad - the centerparcs in France, Holland, Belgium or Germany are much much cheaper. Some of them are really accessible using eurostar and then local transport too so you don't have to drive abroad if that worries you.

Last week in august is always cheaper in Europe, as their kids have gone back to school.
European centre parcs are great.

Also recommend Duinrell in Holland.

Look at Hoseasons. You can filter it for lodges and if you’re flexible on location, that will help. Areas like Northumberland are often very good value compared with, say, Dorset.

There are other companies like Forest Holidays, Parkdean, Away Resorts, Aria Resorts, etc, which are cheaper than CentreParcs but often have good facilities.

MyCatIsNotFittingMyKitchen · 30/07/2022 09:33

Oh, and last week in August is often cheaper here too, not just in Europe!

EmergencyPoncho · 30/07/2022 09:36

Have a great time!

I really recommend Parkdean, we've stayed in Lodges in Fallbarrow (Bowness), Ty Mawr (North Wales) and Cayton Bay. All the lodges have been beautiful and immaculate.

Everybody has inspired me so much. It has opened up a new world of possible for me, now and in the future.

Did not know that a lot of this existed and I get overwhelm when searching myself. Now I have direct links and name suggestions you have all made it so much easier for me.

Surprisingly not everything is fully booked either.

Ooooh I'm excited 😆

Same here @lounge ! Thanks for starting this thread.

Lots of places here I hadn’t heard of either. I’m going to start making a list of places to think about booking for next year.

Makes me think how much more money places like CP have for marketing compared to these other lesser known places.

lounge · 30/07/2022 09:54

Exactly Mrs Albert - its all about the marketing. I wasn't that fussed on Centre Parks it that it was all I ever hear about.

I'm going to book for next year too!

I saw an article about a 10 year old boy that got mauled to death in Haven not long back. I didn't know there were dogs at Centre Parks too.

Wow great suggestions everyone thank you.

Rough budget. I don't want to spend more than £500

The dog was the family friends. It wasn’t a rogue dog

good luck in your holiday search. They’ll have a ball

CentreParcs is a total rip off and the monetisation of "getting back to nature" continues when you arrive. I would far rather find a well-run glamping site with pre-erected tents and all equipment provided - which would still cost a fraction of an August stay at CP.

I have also had some fantastic experiences in AirBnbs and found some idyllic properties in stunning locations for not much more that £100/night. Scrutinise the photos and reviews carefully, look for high scores for cleanliness and prioritise "Superhosts" who are established hosts with a minimum number of good reviews.

You are putting your costs up by not wanting to leave the SE which does tend to be more expensive in general.

lounge · 30/07/2022 13:36

Berylbird - I can imagine it is a total rip off.
Thank you for the great tips - so helpful to me.
