Centre Parks - any tactics to get it really cheap?

All my DS friends have gone on holiday. He is getting lonely and bored. We haven't been able to go away for some time.

I would like to ask another mum and his friend to go to Centreparks with us but it will all depend on the price.

Are there any tactics to get it as cheap as possible?

Jumping in to ask
People who suggested CP abroad - any tips on getting that cheap/ best value? School holidays only for me so I'm sure that won't help!

Gazelda · 29/07/2022 20:34

I think you're really going to struggle to get a summer holiday for under 500.

lounge · 29/07/2022 20:38

Oh even for just the weekend is that too low a budget? Drat

@lounge have a look at 2cHolidays, I just booked a caravan for 4 nights for under £500
Not my preference to stay in a caravan but kids absolutely love it and the site has indoor / outdoor heated pools, beech is 5 mins walk away.

Centre Parcs is lovely but so overpriced!

NerrSnerr · 29/07/2022 20:42

How about a weekend in a hotel somewhere he wants to visit? You can get a travelodge or premier inn fairly cheap? You obviously would have to buy food etc but might be possible?

Gazelda · 29/07/2022 20:42

Whereabouts in the country are you? Any preferences where you'd like to go? Beach or countryside? Do you drive?

lounge · 29/07/2022 20:45

Oh I will look into that Ellieboolou thank you for the suggestion.

Yes good idea, I could get a hotel somewhere where him and a friend want to go. They are 15.

I'm in Surrey.

And look at Youth Hostels - they’ve come a long way, you can often have private rooms etc with en suites. Google the website.

I do drive but I don't want to drive too far. Beach or countryside I'm not fussy. Would be nice if there were a few bit for teen to do.

Thank you Afterfire great suggestions. I will look that up.

There's a French name for a basic hotel I forget what it's called now, but hey were goo.

John Fowler also have some good holiday parks, the one in South Devon might be worth a look? Near quite a few attractions and Splashdown water park if they want a holiday park. Hoseasons would be worth looking at as well.

127LMS · 29/07/2022 20:53

I think Centre Parcs is overpriced and a bit chavvy.

Hoseasons have everything from bargain bucket to luxury sites. If you have a half term fall out of the main holiday period you pick up a last minute deal really cheaply. At the start of June they had hot tub lodges at popular sites for less than £250

lounge · 29/07/2022 20:53

I'm going to have a look if there are any within an hour of Surrey. Like west Wittering or something

Ooh I'd love a hot tub! I'm going to ring around .

Norfolk Broads?

lounge · 29/07/2022 20:58

Hoseasons has a deal in Kent for £309 that isn't a million miles away.

Love you lot on Mumsnet - always so helpful thank you so much! Flowers

Center Parcs abroad - try Holland in May half term. If I remember rightly that is not a school holiday in Holland. The snow dome at De Kempervennen (?) is good. Can try snowboarding if you already ski.

Hoseasons has a great deal for one in Kent for £309.

Ibis

Never been to an ok one in England or France

lounge · 29/07/2022 21:01

Ibis that's it and Etap too I think

MajorCarolDanvers · 29/07/2022 21:02

The only way to get it cheaply is to go term time.

Schoolchoicesucks · 29/07/2022 21:08

How about a couple of nights near the coast- try an ibis, premier Inn, travelodge etc - and could do some kayaking/surfing/sup activities while you're there?

Bjarnum · 29/07/2022 21:13

Some Airbnbs are fantastic (though some are pretty crap) - my daughter stayed for a few days in one - the host provided a hamper, private garden, access to summerhouse with loads of board games/table football, Playstation, TVs in 5 rooms, wifi, barbque, pizza oven, paddling pools and water slides, Sky. Walled secure garden and tents for kids to camp out. Grade 2 listed farmhouse, spotlessly clean, basics like loo rolls, cereal, milk included. I think she paid about £100 a night. She chose it because it was near to a water park, ice rink, various activities etc but in the end they just stayed in. Check some out - look at the reviews.

You could hire a camping site in your budget at one of these
www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/readycamp/#section-welcome

It's all set up for you. Just need clothes. Showers are always spotless. And lots of children for your DS to play with.
