France and covid pass

letstryagainnow · 26/07/2022 11:18

I think I've got this right but need to check.
Dd 9 1 dose of vaccine but as she's under 18 no need to provide proof of anything and no need for any negative test on entry.
Ds 11 as above
Myself and Dh both 2 doses plus booster. We have the NHS covid travel pass QR codes in our apple wallets.
Is this all we need? Will France accept these? Or is there something else we need to download/apply for?
Thank you!

I went to Paris a couple of weeks ago and all that I had to show was the Covid pass.

We travelled to France on Sat with Brittany Ferries and only had to show our Covid travel passes on our phones. It was very easy.

Aixellency · 26/07/2022 22:59

No idea about children but yes, for adults they’ll check your Covid passes for proof of all three jabs. (Eurostar this month.)

Documentation I made sure I carried but wasn’t asked for:

Return tickets.

GHIC (I had the emailed acceptance. The physical card didn’t arrive until after I returned but apparently the email is enough.)

Travel insurance.

Proof of where I’d be staying throughout trip. Including official letter from host - which lessened the sum of money I was supposed to be able to prove I had available. (French friends laughed at me - but just look at what’s happening with Spain this week.)

As I say, no one asked for any of this - but that could change at any moment. Visitors from around Europe who I met on my travels said their own countries were itching to impose tedious rules on the English, in retaliation for Brexit and British officiousness as regards free movement.

Has France changed the rules again then? In May my DS12 needed a negative test.

You need a negative test from age 12 if you are not fully vaccinated (2 doses for 12-18 year olds). If you are fully vaccinated, everyone 12+ needs a Covid pass.

We had to register our covid passes with Eurotunnel on the booking page before travelling.

Aixellency · 26/07/2022 23:23

That sounds more efficient than the one person they had checking Covid passes on phones at St Pancras Int. EspeciallyDeIighted.

But I do wonder if those passes aren’t … fakeable. As far as I recall mine wasn’t checked against any form of ID.

Well you have to have your NHS log in to download them. I guess you could email them to someone else.

canofsoup · 27/07/2022 05:59

We travelled from Portsmouth to Caen on Thursday with Brittany Ferries's. Didn't get asked for our Covid passes once.

ivykaty44 · 27/07/2022 06:07

@Aixellency What’s happened in Spain this week?

You cam forward them by email, my family all downloaded theirs and emailed them to me so I could add them to the booking, it was part of the online check-in process that you had to submit one for each person on the booking. Then when we arrived at Folkestone the machine retrieved our booking via ANPR and the car number plate so we didn't need to show anything till we got to passport control.

Clymene · 27/07/2022 08:42

Yes I know @Aixellency. I'm not sure if the app is sophisticated enough to see if the name on the Covid pass matches the API or not though I'm guessing not!

letstryagainnow · 27/07/2022 18:56

Thank you!
Yes-both children are under 12.
I'll have another look at our booking on Brittany ferries to see if we need to enter any covid pass details 🤔

No one asked us for anything when we went France in may

Ulysses · 27/07/2022 21:39

Wad to show our Covid passes before embarking the ferry at Portsmouth and after disembarking at Caen. We went with Brittany ferries and no need to enter any details with them.

Ulysses · 27/07/2022 21:40

*we had

Sorry, slow reply!

BaronessBomburst · 02/08/2022 17:28

UPDATE: as of 1 August 2022 France have scrapped COVID entry requirements. You don't need a test or a certificate.

ivykaty44 · 04/08/2022 05:59

Thanks for the update, I’m travelling to France then onto Spain overland - so I guess that will affect Spain aswell, without boarder control no one will check entering Spain either

ivykaty44 · 04/08/2022 06:02

@Aixellency Spain have requester the funds of third party travellers for many years, it’s nothing new for Spain - jyst the British as they/we made ourselves a third party 🙈

letstryagainnow · 04/08/2022 16:52

Thanks for the updates!

We travelled to France via the P&O ferry end of July and no one had checked anything - not my Covid pass and not my 12-year-old's expensive (😬) same-day PCR.
