Where am I describing?

Somewhere with nice resorts with good amenities for kids, but walking distance to a nice resort town as opposed to stuck on an out of the way all inc resort, slightly upmarket rather than brits abroady, lots of choice for restaurants (family of veggies) large beaches with white soft sand not stoney, warm seas, hot but not too hot in July/August (nothing 30+)

Budget up to £3k for a week

Where fits the bill?!

I think you are describing a Uptopia that does not exist! Everywhere will be too hot in August and I can't find a decent holiday for 4 of us out of school holidays for a budget a bit more than yours, let alone August. It's really depressing.

LadyCampanulaTottington · 21/06/2022 14:32

Italy if you go in July.

August is holiday month on the continent, everywhere will be packed.

TheRoadToRuin · 21/06/2022 14:34

Alvor in Portugal
One of the most fabulous beaches I've seen. Little town with cobbled streets lined with restaurants. Vegetarian I don't know because we went before DS was veggie, I know it's tricky in most places.

Italy is already 30+!

That doesn't exist OP. Sorry.

Lefkas?

Summerhillsquare · 21/06/2022 14:39

North coast of Spain.

goldfinchonthelawn · 21/06/2022 14:40

Georgeoupolis in Crete? Not been there in decades but that's how it seemed then - long soft sand beaches, pleasant beachside cafes and hotels, a little chapel in the sea that you reached by a tiny causeway at low tide or just waded to at other times.

Crete generally seemed like a lovely holiday destination with all the facilities but not hideously touristy

CavernousScream · 21/06/2022 14:41

Southern Europe will be too hot for you. Vendee area of France might fit but restaurants are generally not great for vegetarians. Much of Northern Europe will be over budget, but you could look at the Belgian coast?

Bunce1 · 21/06/2022 14:42

Pueto pollensa in Mallorca
tamariu in spain
Cascais, Portugal

TheRoadToRuin · 21/06/2022 14:43

Greece, Italy, Cyprus and Spain will all be steaming hot.
I mentioned Alvor above because the Algarve is on the Atlantic and gets a good breeze, though the sea isn't as warm as the med.
Alternative is Fuertaventura. Corralejo has the most amazing white sand beach and lots of upmarket hotels in other resorts. It's also very windy and I have felt on the cool side in August there.

Mosaic123 · 21/06/2022 14:44

Tel Aviv in Israel. Ideal for vegan and vegetarian families. Maybe a little bit hot but lots of air conditioning.

Bunce1 · 21/06/2022 14:44

Sorry just saw your update about the temp…

what about ILe de re off the Atlantic coast franCe.

ChangedMyNamrButStillMe · 21/06/2022 14:46

What kind of place do you want to stay in? Hotel/ villa etc?

Theres a Eurocamp near Biarritz that has many of those things - restaurants, culture, surfing and gorgeous beach in in Biarritz which is a bike ride from the Eurocamp and big swimming pool with slides/ go ape etc at the camp for kids to do. Depends if you’re willing to stay in a caravan for a week though.

MrsWonderland · 21/06/2022 18:03

You can't have warm sea with cool air temperatures. It's entirely contradictory. The Belgian/Dutch coast is wonderful but obviously the sea isn't warm, if you head to the Med then the temperature is going to be over 30. I think you have to decide one way or another.

SunnyShiner · 21/06/2022 18:07

Greece will be too hot and Portugal's sea isn't ever warm enough for me (I like a warm sea like Greece/Turkey/Cyprus

FemmeNatal · 21/06/2022 18:11

Butlins in MInehead?

ghoulie · 21/06/2022 18:19

Maybe under 30 is the wrong way of wording - I just don't want unbearable heat for my three year old?!

Crete says between 27-32 which sounds doable!

@TheRoadToRuin we are off to Alvor in a few weeks based on not much more than the hotel being beautiful but also child friendly so I’m very pleased to see your comment!

theskyispurple · 21/06/2022 18:24

Crete is one of the most southernmost European holiday destinations and is scorching in august. I know because I go every year Grin
My kids have all coped with the heat - we make sure we have air con in the apartment, stay in the pool a lot, don't go
Out sightseeing in the hottest part of the day. Perfection in my eyes

PolkaDotMankini · 21/06/2022 18:26

Park Zandvoort just north of Amsterdam would fit the bill. The sea is going to be the same temperature as the south coast here: warm enough to enjoy but not bath-like. Link: www.centerparcs.eu/in-en/netherlands/fp_ZV_holiday-park-park-zandvoort

Salutina · 21/06/2022 18:31

If you'd be happy to go every 2 years instead of annually - Queensland Australia! Obviously out of budget for this year. But for future planning / ideas, Noosa and various other places would fit the bill. Gorgeous temps in Aussie winter, and August is their tourism off season so not crowded and overpriced.

Sallypally0 · 21/06/2022 18:32

Cala Dor although the beaches are not big there are several to pick from.

It's on the North Sea; it never really gets that warm there.

CeeJay81 · 21/06/2022 18:52

The Canaries don't get quite as hot as med and there is a breeze that makes it seem cooler. Have a look at various islands and resorts there.

BarbaraofSeville · 21/06/2022 19:15

Playa Blanca Lanzarote ticks most of your boxes but the sea isn't warm warm.

We've stayed here. V close to large convenience store and bakery, 5 mins walk from marina restaurants and beach.
