Fave part of your day when on a beach holiday

Curious as to how people spend their beach holidays and what their favourite parts of it are! So what's the best part for you?
We're away right now, and although I love the beach, lazing by the pool or having a swim, my favourite part of the day is getting back to the room after a day in the sun, having a really long cool shower (love to removed the feeling of sweat and suncream off my body) and then all 3 of us curling up together on the massive main bed with the tv on and having a little siesta with the balcony door open and the sound of the sea. Currently my 7 year old is watching mtv while my husband has a snooze and I'm...well I'm on Mumsnet! Love the opportunity to be lazy and not have any chores to do at all. Heaven!

Having a cocktail by the pool / in the beach in golden hour before going to change for dinner.

Slightly different depending on time of year.
July in Greece when it's blistering hot - dinner in the evening in a floaty dress.
Going to Canaries next week so it will be cool in the evening. Best bit there is breakfast outside looking out over the sea.

Arriving at a beach club and looking at the menu to plan the lunch for later in the day before having a morning nap.

Or around 5pm when I wake up from a snooze and order a cocktail as the beach vibe shifts from day to evening.

We tend to leave the beach at 7ish.

On Tuesday we're going abroad for first time since covid - and with our 18 month old! So it's going to be a whole new sort of holiday with a kid in tow, but I'm so looking forward to every single aspect, breakfast, swimming with the baby, showing him the sea for the first time, evening drinks in balmy weather, spending some time with DP for once... YAY.

Any tips for flying with a toddle?

MossyBottom · 17/04/2022 15:32

@roarfeckingroarr My number one tip is buy a seat on the plane for a toddler! Other than that, lots of new little bits to get out as the flight goes on. Sticker books etc. Is it a long flight?

My fav part is when My family and I go to have a nap at around 1/2 after lunch! 😁 Then come back

CiderGlider · 17/04/2022 15:57

My early morning swim followed by a green tea on the balcony…and watching the sun set in almost and instant, while enjoying last drink before heading back room for showers before heading out for evening meal.

@MossyBottom 5 hours. Too late to buy a seat! He's a cheery little thing and will breastfeed during take off probably but he wants to roam and see and touch EVERYTHING

So nice to see everyone's favourite things! We're not normally beach holiday fans, we love a city break, road trip or Orlando but we've been so knackered this last year that we just wanted to chill out and not do a lot for our holiday. And we're loving it! Our son has just got brave enough to try the kids club this weekend so right now he's making Easter bunny ears and doing an Easter egg hunt while we sit in peace and quiet with our books by the pool. Lovely not to be nagged into the pool constantly by our swimming mad child!

Lying on the sun bed getting hotter and hotter till it gets too much, then sliding into the lovely cool pool and floating around. Extra points if there’s a swim up bar for a cocktail. Utter heaven.

When the sun goes down and you have to put on a thin jumper while watching the stars come out, but your skin is still tingling from all the sun during the day.

Cannedlaughter · 17/04/2022 18:49

When my kids were young it was sat having an evening meal. Its dark but the beach is lit up from the resturants lights. The children have left the table playing in the sand making friends with other children doing the same whilst we watch them and chatting and just soaking in the night.
Now, coming back from the beach, sightseeing or wherever at about 4.00 and stopping for a cold larger in the shade, sat watching the world go by.

Sunnytwobridges · 17/04/2022 19:20

Getting back to the room. But Then again I hate beach holidays 😂

CharlotteRose90 · 17/04/2022 20:30

I love my afternoon siestas or the main one is coming to the room after a full day sunbathing, having a shower and just sitting naked or in loose clothes relaxing while eating crisps and drinking a cold drink. Absolute bliss and I get to do it in 3 weeks time.
