Fave part of your day when on a beach holiday

Curious as to how people spend their beach holidays and what their favourite parts of it are! So what's the best part for you?
We're away right now, and although I love the beach, lazing by the pool or having a swim, my favourite part of the day is getting back to the room after a day in the sun, having a really long cool shower (love to removed the feeling of sweat and suncream off my body) and then all 3 of us curling up together on the massive main bed with the tv on and having a little siesta with the balcony door open and the sound of the sea. Currently my 7 year old is watching mtv while my husband has a snooze and I'm...well I'm on Mumsnet! Love the opportunity to be lazy and not have any chores to do at all. Heaven!

Haha. Kids but they like to be treated like royalty.

Early morning walk along an empty beach and paddling in the sea, followed by coffee and breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea, people watching.

chisanunian · 17/04/2022 10:34

Going out in the morning when it's still cool and finding somewhere to have a massive fry-up breakfast.

Enzbear · 17/04/2022 13:02

Having the first paddle in the sea when you arrive. Swimming, snorkeling, boat trips, kayaking.

TruffleShuffles · 17/04/2022 14:19

People watching, especially if you’re on a resort and it’s mostly the same people about every day. I just love seeing others peoples habits when on holiday, there’s nowt as strange as folk! Also an early morning coffee on a sun lounger is heaven.

Countdownis35 · 17/04/2022 14:31

Overlooking the balancy view and having a cup of tea watching life go by. Same on an evening absolutely bliss.

Not having to cook and just switch off from the fast pace life!

Summersdreaming · 17/04/2022 14:35

Having a shower then sitting on the balcony letting the sun dry my hair sipping a cold drink and reading my book, deciding where to wander and eat. Bliss.

Justmuddlingalong · 17/04/2022 14:41

A swim in the deserted pool at first light, a few hours before breakfast.

GeneLovesJezebel · 17/04/2022 14:43

After my shower, hair wet, in my silky dressing gown, sat on the balcony drinking local beer and listening to my music.

Blueberrycreampie · 17/04/2022 14:43

I've never liked lying in really hot strong sun so my absolute fav time of day is going to the beach around 4 or 5 and soaking up the lovely warmth of the afternoon sun. I'm usually joined by a few locals whose kids are happy to be free from school. As long as they're far enough away and don't scream too loudly, all is good!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 17/04/2022 14:43

Great thread! Just back from Tenerife. Love an outdoor boozy lunch, and then that afternoon snooze on the sunbed where you wake up and wonder where you are.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 17/04/2022 14:43

Ooh hard to pick. Being the only one awake and sitting on the balcony having breakfast and watching the world go by. Walking along the shore with my feet in the water. Relaxing on the balcony with a book and lovely snacks after a day at the beach. The bit after you're showered but not yet dressed and can chill on the bed, probably with a book. Walking around choosing where to eat dinner, hearing crickets, smelling seafood and garlic and watching the locals on the beach after the holidaymakers have left it for the day.

wonkygorgeous · 17/04/2022 14:46

A lazy breakfast overlooking the beach. I like it to take an hour. Lots of drinks, plates of fruit, pastries and hot food.

It's usually fairly cool that time of the day and it's lovely sitting in the breeze enjoying the surroundings.

Babymamamama · 17/04/2022 14:47

Late afternoon or early evening last rays of sunshine on the beach when everyone else has gone to shower for dinner. I love the low rays. Bliss!

BendingSpoons · 17/04/2022 14:57

Same as Babymamamama my favourite bit is lying on the beach or by the pool in the early evening when it's quiet. Don't get to do it so much with young children who need a very early dinner.

Also getting into a cool pool after a walk etc when you are boiling hot.

constantindigestion · 17/04/2022 14:58

Shower , air con and lying on the bed eating crisps while watching tv or playing on phone

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 17/04/2022 14:59

Like pp said, hard to choose. We had a swim up room in Majorca & I loved getting up really early & having the pool all to myself. Being in the sea is one of my favourite places where I feel absolutely relaxed & free so I’m happy just floating under the sun. Also love snorkelling. I didn’t learn how to do that until I was 36 & it opened up a whole new world!

happystory · 17/04/2022 15:00

A glass of wing at lunchtime then dozing off on the sunbed to the sound of the waves. Best naps ever!

happystory · 17/04/2022 15:01

*wine!

Stuckandinamess · 17/04/2022 15:02

Walking down steps into the pool (I'm not one to jump straight in) The cool water hitting sunbaked hot skin is the best feeling.

PrincessPaws · 17/04/2022 15:04

For me it is early morning. I am an early riser on holiday and I LOVE going down to the pool at 6am, and sitting reading for a couple of hours before heading off to breakfast. It's cool but sunny, it's peaceful, there is no one around and I love just listening to the world waking up is wonderful

PrincessPaws · 17/04/2022 15:06

@Startuplife

Sitting with my legs in the pool, reading one of my many holiday books with a cocktail. Last year we booked a swim up room for the first time and it was perfect. DP is more of a sitting in the shade watching films person so he could do that on the balcony while I sat by the pool. Then around lunchtime when our little pool became a bit shaded, we’d go for lunch and then head over to the main pool. Those 10 days were utter bliss.
Nothing better than a swim up room!
Hoolihan · 17/04/2022 15:08

Oh what a fab thread! I love holidays.

Waking up to the promise of a beautiful warm empty day of pleasing myself.

Treading water out at sea, just floating and enjoying the clear water.

Seafood for lunch in damp swimwear and a floaty kaftan.

Afternoon snooze.

Late afternoon on the beach when people have started to leave but it's still warm and everything turns to gold.

Shower and dressing for dinner, feeling shimmery and light.

Drinks, tapas, people watching, music, dancing, love and happiness.

Repeat!

Hoolihan · 17/04/2022 15:10

Oh and who doesn't love a foreign supermarket? I really enjoy buying Spanish crisps. 😆

Cheeseandlobster · 17/04/2022 15:10

Sitting on the sun lounger as the beach starts emptying and the sun starts going down with an ice cold beer in a frosted glass. The shadows are longer and all I have on my mind is whether to read one more chapter of my book before I head back to the room for a shower and where to go for dinner and a pre dinner drink.

Holidays are my favourite thing. On The Beach might have an annoying advert for their company but they are spot on with the music. Christmas isn't the most wonderful time of the year. Holidays (at least for me) are
