Greece with under 12s (covid)

Hi all
Travelling to Greece in April - 2 fully vaccinated adults and unvaccinated under 12s. Just read that the children will need negative lfts for the plane, and also for all kinds of indoor settings during the trip - anyone had any experience of this and can describe how this is working in practice? Thank you
Ps gutted I didn’t get covid recovery certificates for them when I could - we all had it in Jan but I was sure they were exempt from testing requirements due to their age… I was wrong…

We're off to Greece in July with our 9 and 11 year olds so watching with interest! They don't mind being tested but it would be great to not have to!

Yes I'm watching with interest. We are going in the summer with a 6 and 4 year old.
Even if we do get the 6 year old vaccinated will it be enough time to get the 2 vaccinations and boosters?
Meh so stressful having to LFT every 48 hours

After a big rise in Greek Cases recently, today they have fallen by 25%. More chance of restrictions being lifted if this continues!!

We are going to Greece next Friday. We've all had covid in the last few weeks and are all testing negative now - 2 adults and 3 children.
Assuming we still need to test the children (11, 8 and 5) but not ourselves?

Just to update - we are here now and it's very relaxed. We tested the kids and have certificates but no one has asked to see them, or our vaccine status. Only time we have to wear masks is at the food buffet and staff are constantly apologising for that! Staff here said the pandemic has been brutal for business and they just want people here.

Thanks @HarrassedMumof3 hope you are having a good holiday. We travel next Tuesday for a week and can't wait.
Out of curiosity who did you do your tests for the kids with? We have not been abroad since the pandemic and it's all new to us!

HarrassedMumof3 · 05/04/2022 06:13

Did them with Randox - one of the suppliers EasyJet recommends. It was all very easy - you just download their app, then upload photos of the completed tests. We got certificates back within minutes.

Thanks for the update. Just wondered what the mask rules for children are in Greece? Are they required to wear masks in the hotel?

Report

HarrassedMumof3 · 08/04/2022 14:15

Where we're staying it's mandatory while at the food buffet but nowhere else in the complex. All shops require masks - my kids are 11, 8 and 5 and the oldest two have to wear them there.

We are also in Greece just now with our 11 year old. Haven’t had to show our vaccine passes/tests once. Not leaving uk, not arriving in Athens, not in restaurants…. Nowhere! Masks are mostly being worn by locals in the town where we’re staying, but overall very relaxed. We put ours on for all shops/transport etc. We’re doing a short ferry trip tomorrow, they might ask on that…we’ll see!

Hi- just adding to this post. Can a 12 year old get a covid pass for Greece?

Report

CJay81 · 16/04/2022 15:01

Yes but if your travelling after 1st May looks like you won't need one.

Where did you read that?

Please can someone advise as I am still uncertain. We are flying to Greece next week with a 6 year old. My partner and I are both fully vaccinated with boosters. Our child has had one vaccination. Does that mean they will have to do a pcr or antigen test 24-72 hours prior to flying? Is Randox the best home testing or are there others?

I haven't seen anything properly official yet for entry requirements but it seems its coming. Its definitely official about not needing vaccination certificates to going into restuarants etc though.

@GratitudeGoddess she will need to test yes. Hopefully someone can help you about the best ones.

Just back from Greece with 3x unvaccinated kids. We had a LFT certificate for them which we kept pulling out when requested and also took a few tests with us just in case anyone wanted immediate proof. They were strict about checking our vaccine certification but less scrutiny for the kids. Have a great break!

We’ve just got back, just needed the LFT for the flights but weren’t asked anywhere in Greece while we were there

We are currently in Crete with unvaccinated 8yr olds and the only time we have been asked to show certificates was in a turtle rescue centre run by a Brit. Nothing at the airport, hotel, major sites such as Knossos or the Aquarium. Masks are expected to be worn in doors but other than that it's all very relaxed. I'm glad I did a Randox LFT for the kids (reasonable and quick electronic cert) as opposed to anything more expensive.

Thanks for this ive actually booked my ten year old for a jab next week even though he's not keen cos I was worried about the stress of tests but looks like may not need to now

Well, we are now back from Greece and weren’t asked once for any Covid documentation for the entire trip…..

The pre departure antigen test we used was living care. Excellent quick turnaround and they’re now only £10

Was the LFT compulsory before you flew? For the 8 year old.
