Holidays
Greece with under 12s (covid)
SmallElephants · 10/03/2022 10:35
Hi all
Travelling to Greece in April - 2 fully vaccinated adults and unvaccinated under 12s. Just read that the children will need negative lfts for the plane, and also for all kinds of indoor settings during the trip - anyone had any experience of this and can describe how this is working in practice? Thank you
Ps gutted I didn’t get covid recovery certificates for them when I could - we all had it in Jan but I was sure they were exempt from testing requirements due to their age… I was wrong…

Just to update - we are here now and it's very relaxed. We tested the kids and have certificates but no one has asked to see them, or our vaccine status. Only time we have to wear masks is at the food buffet and staff are constantly apologising for that! Staff here said the pandemic has been brutal for business and they just want people here.

We are also in Greece just now with our 11 year old. Haven’t had to show our vaccine passes/tests once. Not leaving uk, not arriving in Athens, not in restaurants…. Nowhere! Masks are mostly being worn by locals in the town where we’re staying, but overall very relaxed. We put ours on for all shops/transport etc. We’re doing a short ferry trip tomorrow, they might ask on that…we’ll see!

From 1st May relaxation of restrictions. won't need vaccines passes to enter places indoors. See above link. 1st of June no marks indoors. See above details.

Please can someone advise as I am still uncertain. We are flying to Greece next week with a 6 year old. My partner and I are both fully vaccinated with boosters. Our child has had one vaccination. Does that mean they will have to do a pcr or antigen test 24-72 hours prior to flying? Is Randox the best home testing or are there others?

I haven't seen anything properly official yet for entry requirements but it seems its coming. Its definitely official about not needing vaccination certificates to going into restuarants etc though.
@GratitudeGoddess she will need to test yes. Hopefully someone can help you about the best ones.

Just back from Greece with 3x unvaccinated kids. We had a LFT certificate for them which we kept pulling out when requested and also took a few tests with us just in case anyone wanted immediate proof. They were strict about checking our vaccine certification but less scrutiny for the kids. Have a great break!

We are currently in Crete with unvaccinated 8yr olds and the only time we have been asked to show certificates was in a turtle rescue centre run by a Brit. Nothing at the airport, hotel, major sites such as Knossos or the Aquarium. Masks are expected to be worn in doors but other than that it's all very relaxed. I'm glad I did a Randox LFT for the kids (reasonable and quick electronic cert) as opposed to anything more expensive.

@LoversLane
Was the LFT compulsory before you flew? For the 8 year old.
