Fancy a break with my pal in May. All we need is a pool. A walk or two. Nice restaurants. Not bothered about super luxury hotels or anything

I’ve never thought of the canaries but imagine they’re all. Boozy or all inclusive ?

We loved Tenerife! We also stayed in Costa Adeje and it was so clean everywhere. Car hire is/was dirt cheap and we headed north and found some beautiful spots. Would definitely return and check out some of the places we missed.

Lanzarote, Playa Blanca on the south of the island.

If you don't want a hotel (though I've heard good things about Princess Yaiza too) you can rent an apartment along the seafront above the promenade with a fabulous sea view. From our balcony we spotted David Cameron and family breezing along the promenade on bicycles while he was PM.

At the north end of the island are some amazing caves well worth hiring a car to get there. And the journey across the island passes through breathtaking scenery with some stunning views.

Just landed three hours ago from a glorious week in Costa Adeje... Not naff at all imo... DH/I go every 2/3 years in Jan/Feb - lovely walkway along the front/v naice shops & restaurants (also in La Caleta - 15 mins walk/3 mins taxi) - OF COURSE there are other areas nearby with 'lively' bars & a different vibe... but we go to the market there, and WONDERFUL Chinese lady who's acupressure foot massage is a thing of wonder... Naff is subjective of course - but as a comparison, we got to Kalkan in the South of Turkey a lot - one of those "small fishing villages" with gorgeous roof-top restaurants and a small harbour/lovely cafés... again, not considered naff afaik🤩

As for boozy/inclusive - DH/I are teetotal/never done all-inclusive in the Canaries... And tbh, never even seen anywhere you could describe as "boozy" in Costa Adeje - just a lot of people of all ages relaxing... Some hotels DO offer half-board of course, but we usually just have breakfast & there's no shortage of choice during the rest of the day...

Playa Blanca in Lanzarote is beautiful. Also Puerto Morgan is amazing in Gran Canaria .

@LucySong

Luxurious Ritz Carlton Abama or La Plantacion in Adeje. Both northern Tenerife
Just landed back a few hours ago after a week at La Plantacion in Costa Adeje - already missing the sunGrin

Fuerteventura is definitely not 'naff', especially around Jandia, El Cotillo and Sotavento.

Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife
Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote,
both lovely places

It's been mentioned a few times, but Los Gigantes in Tenerife is nice
