Heated outdoor pool, in Europe, in May

HolidayMiracle · 25/10/2021 16:50

Searching for the impossible 🙄 but my kids are skinny little things and they just cannot handle an unheated pool (even in August heat).

If anyone has any suggestions of hotels with (outdoor) heated pools I'll happily check them out. If anyone wants to look at our ideal holiday list below you are welcome to join me in the madness 😂😂😂

Flight 4hrs or less
On the beach (Sandy)
Heated outdoor pool
Ideally 4/5 star
Less than 90 mins (ideally less than 60) transfer from the airport
Direct flight

Dona Filipa in the Algarve www.donafilipahotel.com/leisure-activities/swimming-pool/

HolidayMiracle · 25/10/2021 22:00

That looks amazing. I can't find any package deals from local airports (Heathrow, Luton, Birmingham at a push) and it's separately it's coming in at £4.5k+ for B and B - which is a bit more than I can justify. Thanks though!!!

The only other one I know is in Tenerife which is slightly over 4hrs flight www.hotelrocanivaria.com/en/services/activities/

Serious suggestion - can they wear wetsuits?

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 26/10/2021 07:09

Not exactly what you asked for but how about centreparcs Europe https://www.centerparcs.eu/in-en/france/fpVNN_holiday-park-villages-nature-paris/aqualagon

HolidayMiracle · 26/10/2021 10:30

Ooh thanks. Will check the Tenerife pool.

They can wear wetsuits - it's not the same but it's a possibility.

I actually love CP but want somewhere that will be warm/hot in May (sunshine wise)

Although I went on a very last minute break ( 4 days before departing) with my friend there was not a lot of choice and we ended up here, lots of children and they loved this place judging by the noise 😂 it’s not on the beach but 5 minute walk to a rocky beach or short taxi to a lovely beach, the rooms/ apartments are quiet nice, the food is good and the kids entertainment is amazing ( even for us older ladies).
I hate cold pools and this was lovely and as it’s a sloping safer.
Tui Holiday Village Aliathon Cyprus.

Sani and Ikos heat the pools. Perfect temperatures.

If you can fly from Stansted that hotel's on Jet2holidays, who do well priced packages and you might be able to get a free child place, but it's still probably going to be expensive, especially if you need to go in school hols

HolidayMiracle · 27/10/2021 10:07

Over £6 from Stansted with Jet2 that week 😂 thanks for the idea though.

I'm currently looking at The Sense hotel in Tuscany

I have been to Dona Filipa and to be honest, the pool is not really heated. The beach is lovely and in the middle of the summer the sea is nice but it might be much cooker in May.

willstarttomorrow · 27/10/2021 20:03

I do not think what you are looking for exists. Outdoor pools in Europe tend not to be heated and therefore are not really usable in the shoulder seasons. We go away a lot to places with thermal pools in winter/spring (which we love) but these will not be near a beach. Favourite places are hajduzobozlo in Hungary and also Velingrad in Bulgaria. Slovenia and slovakia also have thermal towns.

Margaritawithlime · 27/10/2021 20:11

@Pipplekins ooh that sounds right up my street. Is the pool warm? I didn’t quite understand your last sentence

Sorry it's not on the beach. Still lovely though
SingingSands · 27/10/2021 21:33

From memory, I think a few hotels in Lanzarote (Playa Blanca) had heated pools. We definitely had one at our apartment when we visited in April 2019. I was surprised to find it heated, but delighted (I'm a bit of a cold water softie myself!).

Soberfutures · 27/10/2021 21:43

Sol in teneriefe is heated but usually only until April they have a few other hotels. (Melia group)

Rainbowshit · 27/10/2021 21:51

Does it have to be a hotel? Loads of villas ini the canaries have orivate heated pools.

The canaries have a few but I'm really struggling to find halfway decent flights

Parco San Marco just across the Italian border from Lugano. Heated kids pool and own stretch of beach - not sandy, sorry. Have their own donkey family that kids are allowed to feed. Seriously good food.

Late message but Martinhal pools are beautifully heated all year, the Sagres one was lovely in February

Wouldyouever · 30/06/2022 13:42

Hi @HolidayMiracle did you manage to find anywhere? We are on the same quest as you! I’ve looked at the recommendations you received and none are quite right for us.

HolidayMiracle · 30/06/2022 13:52

@Wouldyouever yes we did!! We had a spectacular holiday at The Sense Experience resort in Tuscany. Less than an hour and a half from Pisa, gorgeous hotel with a proper heated pool. It was warm enough to stay in for hours and hours. The beach was lovely too and you get an 'assigned' set of sun loungers which was a nice touch. Highly recommended!
