What would you do in my situation? Help please

We are supposed to fly to Lanzarote on Monday but my idiot husband has lost his passport and not realised until the very last minute. We've torn the house upside down and it just isn't here. We can't get an emergency one quick enough.

So we have a week off, neither of us can cancel our leave. We have a toddler and the UK forecast is pretty shit, but we can't bare to spend a whole week at home after how much we've been stuck at home the past couple years.

Where do we go? What do we do? Suggestions are desperately needed, I thought of CBeebies land and Peppa pig etc but it's only a day really, we want to try and fill a week.

Alternatively I leave DH at home with toddler and have a week in Lanzarote alone which is tempting beyond belief

Take the drawers out of cupboards. It's easy for passports to fall behind and under them

You and DC should definitely still go on holiday OP! He should make all efforts to get an emergency passport and join you there.

Excellent suggestions for hunting grounds above. When did you travel last? Did you have the toddler at that point? Tucked into the back of a nappy bag or pushchair pocket maybe? In the car somewhere? DP once found his inside a book he'd had in his hand luggage and then unpacked straight back on to the shelf.

It'll be behind a cabinet, wedged into the wood so you'll not see it unless you pull it out and look at the back of it.

I mean I could bring DS but a 4 hour flight and a week of parenting a spirited toddler on my own is not my classification of a holiday

Last time I lost mine for ages it was in my work bag in a folder - I had taken it for DBS reasons. Is it worth thinking through that kind of iD possibility?

Where do you (or DH) keep going back to look for it? There’s a place you keep rechecking.

@Justdiscovered that’s where mine was after a few hours of frantic searching the night before I left for a flight!

I lost a passport for a day as I was looking for the distinctive red cover. Turns out it had a different coloured cover on it.

Have you checked in the car?

In 2020, you had to show your passport (or other photo ID) to get a PCR Covid test. My passport lived in the glovebox for a few months!

Mine was in a plastic wallet with confirmation of my covid vaccine with my work id. Look in the car and in bedside table/ hall cupboard/ work bag/ desk. Tucked inside another passport?

Did you find it? My DH passport was in between the lid and the box where it's kept , the box lid was on the bottom , he'd never have found it but I systematically prised everything apart and there it was, inches from where he'd been looking!

I cant believe you are not taking this blessed opportunity to go on your own! Are you mad!? How on earth can you not? Toddler will have a great time with dad and you get to chill. It's a win win! Seriously, why would you not?
