We are supposed to fly to Lanzarote on Monday but my idiot husband has lost his passport and not realised until the very last minute. We've torn the house upside down and it just isn't here. We can't get an emergency one quick enough.

So we have a week off, neither of us can cancel our leave. We have a toddler and the UK forecast is pretty shit, but we can't bare to spend a whole week at home after how much we've been stuck at home the past couple years.

Where do we go? What do we do? Suggestions are desperately needed, I thought of CBeebies land and Peppa pig etc but it's only a day really, we want to try and fill a week.

Alternatively I leave DH at home with toddler and have a week in Lanzarote alone which is tempting beyond belief

Take the Belfast appointment.
He can fly there using driving licence.

You def go without him.

However I have been in this exact situation and found the bloody passport several months later (missed my holiday). It had fallen behind a cupboard next to the stairs. If that helps at all. Get him to keep looking while you pack.

Frazzled2207 · 30/09/2021 20:54

Ps you def do not need a passport to get to Belfast. That should be a day trip job with a driving licence.

Figgygal · 30/09/2021 20:56

I’d take toddler and go without him

Disfordarkchocolate · 30/09/2021 20:57

I'd go without him.

Coriandersucks · 30/09/2021 20:59

I can’t believe he’s not insisting you go without him and someone take his place! If that were me I’d feel dreadful wouldn’t want my family to miss out just because I couldn’t look after something so important.

ninja · 30/09/2021 21:03

Is it in the printer having been photocopied for some reason?

DotsandCo · 30/09/2021 21:12

I genuinely, absolutely wouldn't even hesitate about going without him. I'd definitely take my child though 🥰🥰🥰

pansypotter123 · 30/09/2021 21:12

Where are all your passports usually kept? Go back and check that area. Again. And behind, on top of, underneath it..... under the carpet too...!!

ZiggZagg · 30/09/2021 21:16

Not the same but once DH got refused at the airport due to not having the correct visa to fly, he insisted that me and the DCs went without him. It was disappointing and I did cry quite a lot but ended up having a lovely time Smile

Spikeyplants · 30/09/2021 21:16

How quickly could he get an emergency replacement? Why cant you and baby go, and he joins you when his passport is sorted?

Ginger1982 · 30/09/2021 21:16

There was a thread on here once where someone had lost their passport. All of MN banded together with their best ideas for where it could be and it was found!

WishingYouAMerryChristmasToo · 30/09/2021 21:17

Check suitcase, check drawers and pull the drawers out to see if he has fallen down - check pin board and check envelopes check all your paperwork take everything out very carefully empty everything and do it one page at a time. Check all
Plastic wallets and money bags, money belts different wallets - all briefcases and man bags - check all paperwork not just his - everything. I found my dads down the back of his desk it had just slipped down. Check letter racks and sock drawers and photo albums check scanner or photocopier - check if he has used it for id or had to provide it to work etc

feliciabirthgiver · 30/09/2021 21:20

Have you got a printer with a scanner/copier? I found mine 6 months later in the copier where I had taken a photocopy of it one day? Sending lots of positive 'find the passport vibes'

feliciabirthgiver · 30/09/2021 21:21

Sorry didn't read the last few posts with everyone saying the same!

toocold54 · 30/09/2021 21:28

Could your mum or friend take his place? You could then still go with the toddler and he can have a relaxing break with his mates somewhere in the UK.

MMAMPWGHAP · 30/09/2021 21:35

In with the map/guidebook of the last place he went? Somewhere in with health stuff because he took it as id for his Covid vaccine?

Jenjenn · 30/09/2021 22:16

Check the car.

LIZS · 30/09/2021 22:17

Needed it forbid purposes recently? Tucked in an envelope with a bill or birth certificate or travel documents perhaps.

Si1ver · 30/09/2021 22:21

Have you had it out for ID recently? In the early days there was chat about needing to take them with you for PCR tests. Mine was found in the car after a test.

dreamkitchenhelp · 30/09/2021 22:22

Take out every drawer and check behind and underneath. It is there.

Seesawmummadaw · 30/09/2021 22:30

Did he use it when you booked the tickets?

HollowTalk · 30/09/2021 22:31

I wouldn't leave the toddler behind! If your husband thinks he's going to be the only one left behind that might help focus his mind.

doodleygirl · 30/09/2021 22:32

Is there a reason you can’t go with the toddler?

FizzyPink · 30/09/2021 22:35

Definitely find someone else to go with you. Why waste all that money when you could be having a lovely week in the sun.
