Spain - covid testing- have I got this right?

FoxInABox · 18/08/2021 19:28

Sorry for another covid testing one!
After reading pages and pages of the gov website, I just want to check with the wisdom of mumsnet that I’ve got this right.

Travelling from UK to Spain- both adults fully vaccinated and have NHS app to prove.
DD13 will have a pcr test within 72 hours before we travel. Other two dc are under 12 so don’t need a test? Fill in forms online within 48 hours of departure.

Up to 72 hours before travelling back to the UK. Both adults, DD13 and DD11 will have a lateral flow test. DS8 won’t as he is under 10. Again fill in forms online.

Day 2 tests once home for all of us.

Is this right or am I missing something?

@Walkinginawingingwonderland do you have the nhs app? Your covid vaccine proof is on there

whatagloriousthingtobe · 20/08/2021 22:13

@Sallycinnamum can I ask how do you determine what code belongs to who? My email with booking ref codes doesn't state any names , is this because I need to register them before we go?

Walkinginawingingwonderland · 20/08/2021 22:15

@whatagloriousthingtobe I’m in Wales and it doesn’t work for us Sad

Queenie6655 · 20/08/2021 22:15

Sorry to sound so dumb
So what if you are going from sat to Friday to Spain

When would you a)get your covid test done and b) fill out the online returns form to go back to uk?

whatagloriousthingtobe · 20/08/2021 22:26

@Queenie6655 test within 72 hours of leaving for uk and form within 48 hours of leaving

Sallycinnamum · 20/08/2021 22:26

The confirmation email didn't state which test belonged to who @whatagloriousthingtobe! I can't register the randox tests until I get home on Sunday so I just guessed.

Tbh, I've found the form filing in for the return to the UK 10 times more stressful than flying out and had to queue for an hour this morning to get our pre departure tests done. When the results arrived by email I couldn't access two of them and had to go back to the testing centre to sort it out!

I'm just relieved our results were negative as we've heard the rates in Majorca are rising rapidly.

Sorry to be daft

What do you mean

So 72 hours after arriving into Spain?
Sorry

Absoluteweapon · 20/08/2021 22:41

Just got back from Mallorca so can answer any questions about the process!

EasterIssland · 20/08/2021 22:42

No @Queenie6655 72h before traveling to uk. So you could get tested Thursday night and then Flight to Spain

whatagloriousthingtobe · 20/08/2021 22:42

@Sallycinnamum we've ordered randox too. I'm just confused as keep seeing people saying they've only used so and so's code so making me wonder if they should be labelled with names !

Sounds like a bloody nightmare !! I'm dreading it to be honest i just want a quick getaway all this admin etc makes it so stressful!

whatagloriousthingtobe · 20/08/2021 22:44

@Queenie6655 yes 72 hours whether that's leaving for Spain or flying back to uk

EasterIssland · 20/08/2021 22:47

72h. To Spain is only if you’re not vaccinated. If you’re then you don’t have to get a test

Vaccinated person flying for the weekend

From Tuesday they can fill the form to fly to Spain.

Flying back Sunday. So from Thursday can have the return to Uk test. This means can it before flying to Spain.

From Friday they can fill the form for returning to Uk and need to insert the day 2 pcr which must have been bought by Then

Hope it makes sense

LyndaLaHughes · 20/08/2021 22:49

Just to be clear the UK form is 48 hours before your arrival time in the UK.

whatagloriousthingtobe · 20/08/2021 22:55

Can anyone else clear up the confusion regarding booking ref codes for day 2 tests?
Do you have a specific code for each person as my confirmation email just gives three random codes and I'm unsure how I determine on the uk plf what code belongs to who

Queenie6655 · 20/08/2021 22:58

Thank you all

@Absoluteweapon Can you clarify my understanding of what I need to do please because you've just been to Mallorca. Mine is a trip to mainland Spain.

@FoxInABox you mention lateral flows but I can't find that requirement anywhere - is that set by your airline?

From what I can gather:
Pre-departure / fill out form for Spanish Gov for me and DD 1 to 2 days before departure date. Evidence of double vaccine (letter/app) for me for entry. DD doesn’t need vaccine because she’s under 12. This is acceptable to Spanish Gov.

Return / fill out online form for UK Gov for return and book a PCR for day 2 for both of us once back. Is that your interpretation? It’s really bloody hard to follow.

People are talking about pre-departure tests but I can't see these detailed anywhere as a requirement. So I assume that is set by your airline - is that right?

whatagloriousthingtobe · 21/08/2021 12:41

@Mamamia35 one of the requirements to get back into uk is a test 72 hours before you leave Spain. Either pcr or lateral flow. You then still have to do a day 2 pcr test.

Mamamia35 · 21/08/2021 12:51

@whatagloriousthingtobe I think I've got word blindness from reading so much! I just read about the tests on the Gov site.

But where do you find out where to get a test in the area you are in? I'm arranging travel myself, it's not a package.

troppibambini6 · 21/08/2021 12:54

I'm in Spain now. This what we did.

Dh and me (2 jabs) nothing to fly out only filled in the passenger locator form for Spain 48hrs before departure. Ordered our test at home randox tests for day day 2.
16 year old dd not jabbed a pcr before we flew we did it day before. Spanish passenger locator form.
10, 7 and 6 year old nothing just Spanish locator form.

Rapid antigen test booked for day before we fly home. You don't need a pcr RAT is cheaper only €39. Only over a10s need a test.
Will also do the uk passenger locator form before we leave and add randox codes you get when you order them.

Register, test and drop at drop box the day we get back.

whatagloriousthingtobe · 21/08/2021 13:01

@troppibambini6 currently trying to get through to randox. Don't know if you can help me ? I need to know if my booking reference codes are specific to each person on the uk plf, mine are just three random codes not assigned to anyone. I only had to enter my details when ordering them.
Also, do I register the kit when I'm home after I've done the test ? Thanks

troppibambini6 · 21/08/2021 13:03

@whatagloriousthingtobe we just assigned them ourselves.

Mamamia35 · 21/08/2021 13:03

Thanks @troppibambini6 So you've spent about £300 in tests for the 3 of you? It's money for old rope. Hope you had a good holiday!

troppibambini6 · 21/08/2021 13:04

@Mamamia35 we've been here for a month so yes absolutely worth it for us.
