Teens to France?

So with the change to quarantine announced we have been asked by our travel company if we want to go ahead with our trip to a gite in France, which we had previously cancelled.

Yes we do! But the issue is we are taking five teens who won't be vaccinated. Under 11s are exempt from any vaccination requirements but it is not clear about teens on entry/arrival in France.

I am finding conflicting information. Can anyone help?

Dh seems to think you'd be allowed back to the UK if you tested positive prior to leaving France, and then have to isolate at home, but I'm not so sure. Can't find anything concrete on this though - can anyone advise?

I think you normally isolate in the country you are in. I wouldn't have thought you would be allowed on a plane or ferry/Eurotunnel if you tested positive though I don't know if they check or just trust people.

If you test positive in France you are meant to isolate in place and for the Brits the generic UK FCO advice is that “You must have proof of a negative COVID-19 test to travel to England from abroad”…

There is mention there of the £500 fine.

Yes it’s all a massive risk and stressful. No way we would be doing this if it hadn’t already been booked for two years and were worried some family won’t be able to come if we postpone again. Giving me headaches. I hope it’s worth it!!

Looks at the relative cases numbers we’ve seen over the last few weeks UK vs France, considers that even given those numbers fully vaccinated British resident adults can still enter France from the UK sans isolation and goes..Confused

Bad news for some here and the travel industry..

As discussed in another thread given the percentage of overall cases that are of the beta variant in France have been dropping in the last week or two the timing of the decision is a bit Confused

Now that France will be on the Amber list for Uk from 8th August, and adults are fully vaccinated, I gather from UK and French gov websites, that all we need is proof of vaccination, negative test pre-departure for UK, and day 2 test in UK. No isolation in either countries. We are traveling with minors. Please let me know if I have missed anything. Thank you.

Yes, adults fully vaccinated need nothing
12+ need a PCR or (more likely) LFT not self administered within 24h before travel (if travelling with fully vaccinated parents)
U12 need nothing with fully vaccinated parents

LFT within 72h before returning to UK for all aged 11+
Day 2 amber tests for all 4+

By the way you should download TousAntiCovid app and ensure you have scanned your NHS QR code into it as France has a vaccine passport system for many restaurants, hotels etc.
If you are coming from Scotland/NI apparently a solution is imminent.

Will the Qr code from NHS app be sufficient for proof of vaccination? Or do I need to request a full certificate. I am referring to the codes with 30 days validity.

Yes the NHS app is fine. I downloaded the certificate direct from the app and scanned the QR for vaccination 2 into Tous Anti Covid. It gives you a thumbs up and confetti. You may well be asked for it. I'd take a paper copy too. They may ask for it at border control.

One more thing:

Regardless of your vaccination status, travellers from the UK must provide a completed ‘sworn statement’ (déclaration sur l’honneur) form self-certifying they are not suffering from symptoms associated with coronavirus and have not been in contact with confirmed cases in the preceding fortnight. This can be found on the French government’s website. This should be printed before travel to ensure you have at least one hard copy.

UK is an amber country and you need the English declaration for travelling to France.

I was gonna ask about passenger locator form... it is to be completed 48 hours before entry into uk. Don't think it is needed upon departure from UK.

yes that's correct and you will need code with your prebooked day 2 PCRs
