Majorca testing requirements!

For anyone who is not fully vaccinated, please see link below. Spanish government and health ministry website seems to suggest that rapid antigen tests are acceptable for entry…unlike our gov website and travel companies - trying to make more money on PCR perhaps?
Just scroll down to questions part on the website:

www.spth.gob.es/

What is everyone doing if they’re planning on going in the next week or so?

I'm so confused with what I need now. Hubby and I will be double vaxed by the time we go in August, we have two under 12's so no test needed and 1 14 year old. So for the 14 year old I will need to get a pcr test 48 hours before take off....we live in Cornwall so looks like we'll have to go to Exeter or Plymouth Boots to get this done on the Sunday before we fly on the Tuesday morning. In terms of getting back into the UK, is it only my 14 year old that will need a test (how/ where do I go about doing this in Majorca?). We are staying near Santa Ponsa. And finally, do I need to order the day 2 tests before we go? Is it just my 14 year old that will need this. Debating cancelling and rebooking for next year...

@Cornishgirl18 you, your DH and your 14 year old will all need to test before coming home (you can get private tests to take with you that you do via a video call and are issued with a Fit to Fly certificate) and then all of you (including the under 12s) will need a Day 2 test. You need the booking reference to fly home so easiest to order them before you go.

Also, you need to be 14 days after your second vaccination to be considered double vaccination, so double check your dates.

That is how it stands now, obviously it may change again by August.

Thank you! I think I'm just going to cancel. A holiday shouldn't be this stressful!! Hmm

It's 48 hours prior to arrival, not take off. Altho the flight to Mallorca is only two hours so not much extra time to factor in.

I’m so confused with all this. We are going at the end of July to Menorca but only two of us will be fully vac by then out of 6. How do you all seem to know what you need to do/different types of tests?
It’s the test to come home that I’m most confused about. This is all so unfair on those youngsters that are only allowed 1 jab so far. Boris said he wouldn’t do this 2 level thing. Young ones have suffered the most in general.

To all those confused, I hope I can reassure in 3 easy steps

  1. Fit to Fly (out)

Before you go anyone not double vaccinated or young needs a PCR (48hr for results) or a LAMP (90 mins for results) to get on the plane. We got our teen a LAMP at the airport for £85. We just arrived 2 hours before departure.
  1. Day 2 Test

To get back into the UK you have to complete a passenger locator form, of which you require a code which proves you have purchased a day 2 test. I ordered mine online and it has been delivered to my home address whilst I am here. I got the all essential code on ordering. I paid £49 a test.
  1. Fit to Fly (return)

When in Mallorca find somewhere that does a Fit to Fly test. I've heard most towns do them for about 40 euros.

Currently sat by the pool sipping one euro wine so do hope you are as lucky x

@mumofblueeyes thank you for that break down. Very helpful. Can I just ask 2 questions- 2 of us are fully vaxxed. Do we not need to do the first one?
Secondly did you have to fill out some kind of form to go in? Was it easy? Thanks

If you are fully faxed (two weeks before travel) you do not need a 48 hour PCR before travel. Just proof on your NHS app.
The form before you go is a Spanish online healthcheck form, 48 hours or less before you go. Dead easy. Did it in ten minutes.
I got mega stressed sorting out DS who landed this morning in Majorca with eight mates. They look to be having a ball. Now I know what I,m doing with it all we are planning to go ahead with our prebooked holiday in Greece from last year next month. Just hoping Boris scraps the ten day self isolation for those double jabbed for amber countries.

Hi Natural Blonde.

If you are double vaccinated you don't need number 1, but they did want to see the QR code I downloaded from the NHS app which proved my vaccinations (or a printed certificate?).

Sorry, I should have added - you do have to fill in a Spanish form which asked you fairly simple stuff like passport, date of birth, where you are staying etc. When successfully completed you get a QR code which you show as proof on entry that you have filled in the form.

Basically, they only asked to see: QR code for Spanish form, Vaccination evidence and Teen LAMP test evidence. I just had everything on my phone and it was fine .

My DD flew out yesterday. Took a LAMP test prior to flying, 90 minute turnaround. Once you get your head round it all it is relatively straightforward.

We are in Majorca now. Kids under 12. Hubby double vaccinated but I'm not. It really wasn't too stressful and think it was worth it anyway but that's just me!

@ButYouGottaHaveASkillJeff

I'm stressing about my Majorca holiday now. I'm due to fly out first thing Friday. I'm double jabbed and have my letter (I'm Scottish) so hoping that will suffice for the way out.

I had ordered a Randox day 2 test, I was away over the weekend and it got 'rejected' (I had stated to leave with a neighbour) and now it's being sent back to the DPD depot in Ireland?! WHY! Apparently Randox don't answer calls/emails and I need the reference number for the passenger forms. I've booked my antigen test in Palma so that's ok.

Don't really want to fork out another £100 for a Boots day 2 test 😩.

If you're Scottish you need to book day 2 test via the Scottish gov site. It's not like England where you can go with multiple suppliers.

I honestly don't know what all the different tests are. We are travelling in a few weeks and will need a test for DD1 who is 14. Husband and I got vaccine certificates and DD2 is under 12.

Also, what tests do we need on return. I understand one before we travel back and one when we get back.

I thought the rules to fly out where governed by the country you’re going to? Also it is under 12s or under 10s that are exempt?

Report
Pootle40 · 08/07/2021 19:16

You don't need a test to come to Spain if you are 12 or under. But if you are 11 and over you need one to go back to the UK!

Report
Habitualhonesty · 08/07/2021 21:50

Do you need a test for Spain if vaccinated ?

Report
cptartapp · 09/07/2021 07:00

Not to go out there no, if second vaccine was more than two weeks ago.
Need proof on your NHS app

@astuz @tatapie @EmmaStone sorry if I missed it but did anyone post the website address/name of the Puerto Pollensa testing centre? I’d like to book our slots for return before we fly out ( assuming airlines still running flights after reclassification as amber) and want to make sure that the tests they offer meet the Scottish requirements (PCR, LAMP or antigen with equal to/more than 97percent specificity and equal to/more than 80 per cent sensitivity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/ml)!!!!
