Majorca testing requirements!

Katie1109 · 01/07/2021 21:13

For anyone who is not fully vaccinated, please see link below. Spanish government and health ministry website seems to suggest that rapid antigen tests are acceptable for entry…unlike our gov website and travel companies - trying to make more money on PCR perhaps?
Just scroll down to questions part on the website:

www.spth.gob.es/

What is everyone doing if they’re planning on going in the next week or so?

@tatapie Ooh! That is where we're going, so might leave that test and get it in Majorca. Although, for peace of mind I'm still tempted to buy them here. Don't know what to do now. It's a similar price, £32 if I buy them here in the UK.

astuz · 05/07/2021 06:53

@tatapie Just looked it up and I can even book our appointments online from here to have done in Puerto pollensa. Do you know what certification you get and whether it's valid to get through border control? I assume it is, but doesn't really say on their website.

EmmaStone · 05/07/2021 11:03

Thanks @astuz, that's really helpful, I'll look them up today :)

BramStoker · 05/07/2021 19:23

We are going to Pollensa on 15th July all being well so good to know that test centre is available there

I dare not allow myself to look forward to this holiday til my bum is on a plane seat!

Feels like tempting fate too book the tests in resort before we actually fly so I am planning to arrange tests once we are in resort. Hopefully there isn't an issue with capacity?

astuz · 05/07/2021 19:36

@BramStoker I feel exactly the same about not being able to look forward to the holiday (yet). I think I'm going to wait until we're in resort to book a test & just hope there's no issue with capacity.

The only bit that I think we won't get our money back on if the holiday gets cancelled is the testing, so would rather leave booking it until as late as possible. I'm even wondering if I could leave off booking the day 2 tests until we're in resort. it's all just done online anyway.

BramStoker · 05/07/2021 20:18

@astuz Agree about the day 2 tests on return. I am planning to arrange those online from resort. I will use the same company who will do PCR tests for my 2 teens before we leave UK assuming the service is good.

I am desperate to go but finding it quite stressful worrying about all the 'what ifs'

BangingOn · 05/07/2021 20:48

I think you need the test reference number for your day 2 tests to fill in your pre-departure form to travel back to the UK, so we are organising ours before we go and then it’s one less thing to worry about out there.

Hello, I just wondered if anyone has booked a LAMP test with Collinson?
We are having absolute murders with their online chat help.
Booked LAMP tests online thinking the result would be returned in a quick window, but the chat is telling me that they turn them around within 48 hours. No number to call and now thinking we will not get the results in time to fly (test booked 6pm tomorrow, land in Majorca 4pm Thursday). I really really wish we’d never booked this holiday nowConfused

Thanks

Amboseli · 05/07/2021 22:27

@Clouds76 I haven't yet booked but was planning on booking one for next Thursday at Heathrow. How can it go from 90 minutes to 48 hours turnaround?!

Clouds76 · 05/07/2021 22:32

No idea. I’ve lost the will to live with them (started off with a bot, then an online advisor who just seemed to find it amusing to wind me up 😩) see screenshot

Majorca testing requirements!
Amboseli · 05/07/2021 22:47

@Clouds76 so did you book your test and then they told you it would take 48 hours turnaround?

Are you sure you didn't accidentally book the PCR as that does take 48 hours?

I'm booking ours tomorrow for next Thursday, I'll see what happens.

mumofblueeyes · 05/07/2021 22:55

We are in Majorca now. My 15 year old had a LAMP test done at Luton airport if anyone is flying out of there. Nice and easy, we just had to turn up at the airport 2 hours before we were due. Had the test done in the car park (£85) and the results were emailed to us in the terminal about an hour later. Haven't worked the journey home bit out yet but are staying near Pollenca so thanks for the tip! Oh, and I ordered the Day 2 test for £49 each online. Hubby and I double vaccinated, 8 year old didn't need testing on the way out. I've budgeted £400 for all our tests basically, family of 4. Good luck to all, the sun is shining here!

mumofblueeyes · 05/07/2021 22:57

Clouds, my 15 year old used Collinson at the airport. Appointment was 13.00, results back by email at 14.30 and plane boarded at 16.00.

Amboseli · 05/07/2021 23:00

@mumofblueeyes yes I've got friends who've used collinson numerous times and have always found it easy and efficient.

For day 2 tests I used - covid19-testing.org and filtered by cheapest price.

mumofblueeyes · 05/07/2021 23:16

Habitual - you will need the code of the test to put on the forms you need to complete to enter the UK, so yes, they need ordering before you go. Good luck.

Clouds76 · 06/07/2021 00:58

Thank you so much for the reassurance.

I booked the LAMP via Collinson after checking it was the right test and the turnaround times ok. Then stupidly looked at the small print on the website which says they “aim” to return results within 48 hours but no mention of a quicker time for LAMP (as per the marketing blurb). Messaged them on chat and just got a load of drivel back. To be honest I think whoever was on the late shift was intentionally winding me up…pretty rubbish but it worked!

Fingers crossed the results come back quickly and thanks for the reassuring words!

Have also booked the return tests with C19 testing but after ordering next day delivery last Thursday, DPD have managed to lose them and the company say it’s down to me to resolve with DPD. Great!

I suppose this is what we ask for by booking a holiday at times like these - I can just hear the Mail Online comments “what did you expect?!” - but god if we make it on that plane I’ll be happy. Hopefully not famous last words!

ButYouGottaHaveASkillJeff · 06/07/2021 04:20

I'm stressing about my Majorca holiday now. I'm due to fly out first thing Friday. I'm double jabbed and have my letter (I'm Scottish) so hoping that will suffice for the way out.

I had ordered a Randox day 2 test, I was away over the weekend and it got 'rejected' (I had stated to leave with a neighbour) and now it's being sent back to the DPD depot in Ireland?! WHY! Apparently Randox don't answer calls/emails and I need the reference number for the passenger forms. I've booked my antigen test in Palma so that's ok.

Don't really want to fork out another £100 for a Boots day 2 test 😩.

astuz · 06/07/2021 06:41

You only have to book the day 2 tests before you fly home, so I'm just going to book them on my phone while I'm in Majorca. You don't have to book them before you fly out. Proof that you've booked a test is required for the passenger locator form that you fill in before you get on the plane to get back home, not on the way out.

I'm not stressed about the tests for getting back into the UK, because we will have had our holiday by then. The one that could mess us up is the outbound test for teen DD, but as far as I can tell I can book her in at the airport on Mon 12th for an in-person test, and pay for either 90 minute or 12 hour (haven't decided yet) turn around, so we'll get our results well before we fly early Wed morning. We only live 20 minutes from the airport, so don't mind popping over there to do it.

Amboseli · 06/07/2021 08:23

@astuz we're in the same boat. The only thing that could scupper our plan is one of the teens testing positive before we go.

Like you said I'm not bothered about the way back as we'll have had our holiday by then.

I haven't booked our holiday insurance yet, have you booked yours and if so who with if you don't mind me asking, Thank you!

IsabellesMissingSock · 06/07/2021 09:00

I am in Mallorca now and I booked the day 2 tests before I left, because I thought we had to but actually we haven't needed the reference number or anything so far, so I think we could have booked them while we were here.
ButYouGottaHaveASkillJeff · 06/07/2021 11:43

Ah I've just found the Randox booking number so hopefully that will suffice for the form coming back so show I've actually booked it!

astuz · 06/07/2021 12:45

@amboseli Travel Insurance Saver was what I used. Was going to do insurance through Jet2, but it was a rip off for the (fairly minor) medicals that we had to declare.

Amboseli · 06/07/2021 14:25

@astuz, thank you.

One thing I'm having problems trying to find out is if we have to quarantine once we get out there and are no longer staying in our hotel, can we get a refund for the unused hotel stay. Trying to get an answer out of TUI is impossible.
