I can't really be arsed going too far but it would be LOVELY to get away overnight somewhere countrysidish or coastish. or lochish.

any nice child-friendly hotels or B&Bs nearish to Glasgow? i'm not sure i can be arsed driving for more than a couple of hours? Loch Lomond? Will we freeze to death? (i don't understand the countryside...)

DH is from G'rothes, that's the bit he's most scared of. as it contains MiL.

Oh, well, go to St A, or a lovely East Neuk village with a beach. It's like a different country, and so gorgeous. May as well be in a different country from Glenrothes...

AitchTwoOh · 12/11/2007 18:11

recommend me a hotel or B&B, lady, and i'm there.

we holidayed here when I was pregnant. Easy drive to the coast and country. Nice village with a lovely pub - top venison dinner! We were in the Tower, but the Chapel house is child friendly including a lovely big garden.

Is now the time to boast that I bagged 2 munroes whilst pg ?

AitchTwoOh · 12/11/2007 18:46

Barry it looks lovely and is very nearly available on the nights we want it, but only the Tower House. is that child un-friendly or would 22 month-old be okay?

Hmm - off to feed baby. Will give it some thought. Don't book anything until I get back.

Sheherazadethegoat · 12/11/2007 18:54

crieff hydro has some great deals out of season.

ImBarryScott · 12/11/2007 18:57

My DD's only tiny so I'm a bit crap on health and safety. I guess that the stairs are the main problem - narrow, stone, spiral, rope banister. Probably best to give them a call rather than take my word for it, as I didn't have a mother's eye for potential hazards then .

pointydog · 12/11/2007 19:00

blair drummond safari park - yeah, tis good. They did it up a few years back.

AitchTwoOh · 12/11/2007 19:00

ROFL i just phoned them and said that 'my pal recommended it' and she asked me who that was! mmmmfffffmmmppphbarryscott, i said. she didn't recognise the name.
the woman says that we could risk it for a trisket but there's no room for a travel cot upstairs and no door. do i dare risk dd coming down at night if we share a bed?

and the blithering safari park has Only Just Closed for the winter. see? i am RUBBISH at this.

pointydog · 12/11/2007 19:07

yeah, I was a bit worried there about the lions in winter. Maybe not the happiest sight

pointydog · 12/11/2007 19:09

my childminder goes to nice lodges, apparently, at lake of monteith

might be worth a search

sorry, can't remember any more

Habbibu · 12/11/2007 19:43

This looks very lovely - Kingsbarns has a great beach.

tassisssss · 12/11/2007 19:45

Crieff Hydro is what you need.

Lovely!

We go at least once a year and like it a lot.

(I'm in Stirling if you want any local info!)

Habbibu · 12/11/2007 19:46

And www.ladywellhousefife.co.uk/ looks spookily reasonable. Falkland is lovely - very nice farm shop/cafe nearby, palace, cute village, half an hour from beaches, Scottish Deer Centre, blah blah. I'm almost wishing I didn't live here now so I could stay in some of these places...

Habbibu · 12/11/2007 19:48

Scottish Deer Centre open all winter - mostly deer, as you'd expect, but also wolves, donkeys and birds of prey. I have a season ticket, as we go A Lot.

AitchTwoOh · 12/11/2007 20:47

i've emailed all of them for availability, thanks. dh grumbling at prospect of fife.

Ooh! Now I feel all responsible for you having a nice holiday. I will buy you a drink if I spot you in St A, Aitch!

AitchTwoOh · 13/11/2007 16:59

thank you for your lovely offer, i will take you up on it if i happen to see you.

but how will i know it's her?

OP posts:
Habbibu · 13/11/2007 20:02

Who do you think might be with me, Aitch? Anyone small you might recognise? I'll certainly recognise one (gorgeous) member of your entourage.

AitchTwoOh · 13/11/2007 20:05

how do you know my husband?!

that would be hilarious, wouldn't it? is there a wagamama in St Andrews?

no, seriously, where should we eat. the cambo website talks of a local gastropub...

Oh I went for a day trip to Cambo in Feb
It's lovely
There are piggies in the farm, there's a death trap slide thing in the main garden for children and I met the Lairdie, who was charming.
Very peaceful and rural
Have fun

AitchTwoOh · 13/11/2007 20:42

thanks, i am SO looking forward to it.
Now, give me an itinerary, where else should we go? i'm thinking food, mostly..
