niche retreats in cornwall

beansprout · 16/09/2007 21:37

classic cottages are good

Heathcliffscathy · 16/09/2007 21:40

the ONLY downer, was that there were a couple of crucial things missing: LIKE A FUCKING CHOPPING BOARD!!!

so we bought one. and now there is one.

beautifully done out.

great place.

private beach (a scramble down a pretty precarious path with a bit of string to hold on to but we made it with ds who's 3 no problem).

highly recommended.

EXPENSIVE.

moodlumthehoodlum · 16/09/2007 21:41

Which one did you take? The Hayloft? A precarious path with ds (2 but thinks he's invincible) and dd (3) would certainly add spice to the short break!

ohh I went to a fab place in wales with hot tub etc....will find link

moodlumthehoodlum · 16/09/2007 21:47

OOh that sounds lovely. Niche retreats look great too, especially the niche chef - presumably he must be pretty small to fit into a niche..

If you want to try the West Country Rural Retreats are good.

Clayhead · 16/09/2007 21:50

Northumberland Coastal Retreats

The lady who runs it is fab and cottages are set up for children.

this is a review I did on it from a parents perspective

Niecie · 16/09/2007 21:52

Another good West Country one is Toad Hall Cottages

Clayhead · 16/09/2007 21:52

Just returned from a very disappointing Rural Retreats property (earlier thread

moodlumthehoodlum · 16/09/2007 21:55

Nemo - they look wonderful places, thank you.

moodlumthehoodlum · 16/09/2007 21:56

Oh dear Clayhead were you the mouldy rural retreats cottage thread? Poor you..

OP posts:
Niecie · 16/09/2007 21:57

Sorry I missed that thread. Ignore Rural Retreats then! The brochure always look so nice (can't remember if we have ever used them tbh) but if the people running it don't care then avoid them.

We have had a couple of lovely properties in East Devon through Sweetcombe Cottages.

Clayhead · 16/09/2007 21:58

Yes, the brochure does look lovely! Unfortunately the reality was different in our case.

Nemo2007 · 16/09/2007 22:04

mood you should look at the babyfriendlyboltholes website if tan y bryn is even a slight indication of their standards you wont go wrong.

moodlumthehoodlum · 16/09/2007 22:04

Clayhead those northumberland cottages look great.

Heathcliffscathy · 16/09/2007 22:05

we had buttercup barn.

it really is precarious....but if you can carry them through the hairy bits it is fine (ds actually walked it all, but hey, he is spiderman).
