What’s your favourite part of flying Business Class?

... or even First?

Mine has to be the first glass of champagne when you sit down and everyone else is shuffling past down to economy, looking at you Wink

I forgot to mention OP set the tone with their comment about the peasants staring at them.. so that kind of set the tone for the thread.

BaubleTheLumpOfCoal · 21/12/2019 19:35

The diamond encrusted vibrator.

bohemia14 · 21/12/2019 19:49

I said earlier that I didn't understand the point of this thread. I think it's in poor taste, even though I've been fortunate enough to occasionally travel business.

nakedavengeragain · 21/12/2019 20:35

Again. Economy will never be shuffling past you in business or first on boarding. That's the point of turning left (or going upstairs)

bohemia14 · 21/12/2019 21:15

@nakedavengeragain Not necessarily. I've flown business, but I've also walked through business to my seat when flying economy. Not that often, but it does happen.

Blingysolightly · 21/12/2019 21:27

Well, aren't you a treat OP?!

@nakedavengeragain i do 1/2 trips a month all over the world, usually with BA and switch between Club and First. There is definitely one route I do where you definitely turn left to go into first but right to go into Club and so economy is after that. The economy passengers definitely walk past Club passengers to get to their seats.

Blingysolightly · 21/12/2019 21:28

Lots of definitelys there. It must be trueGrinGrinGrin

nakedavengeragain · 22/12/2019 01:13

@bohemia14 and@Blingysolightly I reckon much depends on the air bridge situation and probably aircraft type so will alter according to airports. Certainly my business/first experience has never had economy boarding through those cabins (BA, Emirates, Virgin, Singapore, Cathay). At LHR one boards Emirates A380 into business/first straight from the lounge. Same for BA First from the Concorde Room in LHR( although I did once have to board a 747 to LAX when in BA First by getting on a bus with everyone else and boarding via the front door stairs)

Definitely as an economy passenger I've walked through business/club on my way out but never when boarding. I can't understand how that works! How can cabin crew be doing drinks when the hoi polloi are milling around?

nakedavengeragain · 22/12/2019 01:21

And for what it's worth I've never paid for a business/first seat with my own money.

I travel A LOT for work. My day rate means it's cheaper to fly me Business and hope I have slept enough to do a whole days work when I arrive then give me a day off to acclimatise when I get there after a 12/27 hours flight.

What I earn in air miles doing this allows me and DH to get business or first reward tickets and I maximise through credit card offers. I'm very lucky to be able to do this but I spend half the year away from from home so it's a bit of a perk.

If I fly on my own money its economy every time because premium cabins, although are fab, are in no way worth the money. dH and I fly back to the UK from Oz/NZ in economy twice a year.

Anyone who thinks this is in poor taste Let me know if you'd find it easy to deliver a full day workshop 2 hours after landing after a 27 hour flight. Yes the champagne and food is nice but as a PP said it's like sleeping in a Youth Hostel.

mrbob · 22/12/2019 01:29

Being able to lie down and sleep. That is all I care about! The rest is just fun extras. I can’t sleep sitting up and I did too many long haul multi leg flights just crying with tiredness. Free PJs are also nice as it means I barely ever buy sleepwear!

I have been on several flights where economy people have to walk past. I hate it and feel so guilty especially when there is someone with a little kid or someone really tall. I know how insanely privileged I am to be able to fly business when I go on the Australia-UK slog and I am very grateful for it.

BlouseAndSkirt · 22/12/2019 02:15

“and everyone else is shuffling past down to economy, looking at you wink*

“That makes you sound like a bit of dick OP.”

“^what they said hmm”

Ditto.

And it isn’t even true: the curtain is closed.

Travelling business class is far more comfortable.

But getting excited by champagne, available in any supermarket, is just pathetic.

Getting on a plane is just travelling. You can make it more comfortable by spending s lot of money. But it’s still just a journey in a tin tube with communal toilets, a constant hum, and recycled air.

Feelingfestivenow · 22/12/2019 09:56

managedmis, there are 2 bathrooms with a shower in each, you book a slot of time you would like to use it, quite spacious they are.

Movinghouseatlast · 22/12/2019 10:39

It is true, why would people lie?! On some flights economy passengers walk through business to get to their seats.

Apolloanddaphne · 22/12/2019 10:41

On almost all the BA business class flights I've been on the economy passengers have to walk through the business class area to get to their seats.

Travelmumone · 22/12/2019 10:46

Well the class of champagne is wasted on me as I don’t drink...I just like the space and privacy (imo that’s the whole point) and the fact that the cutlery isn’t plastic!!

Travelmumone · 22/12/2019 10:52

@nalanda they are probably looking at you because it seems you must be looking at them (obviously if you notice them looking) with a holier than thou attitude on you face!! You must be a treat!!

CherryPavlova · 22/12/2019 16:41

Of course on many European business flights people walk past. The business section is just a few rows of seats at the front with an empty seat or table between two other seats. Not a huge difference to economy and only a curtain separating you. How else would people board from the front of the plane.

It’s the inter continental flights which are more usually flat bed.

Nanna50 · 22/12/2019 16:51

Of all the things to enjoy, the OP thinks the best bit is feeling superior to others. Yep what a dick 🙄

Movinghouseatlast · 23/12/2019 09:37

Cherry, were not talking about short haul business class. Long haul on some planes economy passengers walk through business class.

CherryPavlova · 23/12/2019 09:42

Movinghouseatlast I cannot say that’s happened on the flights I’ve been on but why is it an issue anyway? Just close the screens if it’s a problem about people in general but does it actually matter what class of seat they are in? It’s the seat that is different, that’s all.

Movinghouseatlast · 23/12/2019 13:25

I couldn't give a flying fuck really. But you said it is just on short haul this happens, but as multiple people have said it happens in long haul too.

ChristmasCroissant · 23/12/2019 13:27

The constant flow of food on the plane and in the lounge! The space is really nice as well.

We were upgraded when we agreed to change long-haul flights.
