We’ve taken all our holidays for this year apart from a weekend European Christmas market break in November. Currently thinking about next years holiday and waiting for easyJet to release summer 2020 flights. where is everyone going and how many holidays/ breaks do you plan to take? First year for us that we are completely free if school hols😀

Agree Brussels is underrated @TheCanterburyWhales, has a good arty scene & great museums - it’s not cheap though! Very jealous of the Thailand/Borneo trip @PenguinsRabbits - wow! @ExecutiveFiat, it wasn’t clear from my quickly written & badly spelt post but NY is my DHs 50th birthday trip, my treat to him. I haven’t been for decades but yes, brilliant place. Sounds like you’re embracing the DC free holidays with the right spirit! Our eldest DDs (now 25) were huge pain the arses for sure in their teenage years on holidays (moaning about lack of WiFi/mobile signal, not wanting to go on trips and that’s before we get onto then 14 year old StepDDs holiday romance in Greece with some older boy who lived at the other end of the U.K. that had her sobbing for weeks!). It did feel a bit sad though on the first holiday when it was 3 of us, not 5!

Want to go to Amsterdam in April, never been before and I would like to see the tulips

June I want to do a long haul to somewhere tropical. Haven't decided where yet though, either the Caribbean or South East Asia probably

I want to do a long weekend in Istanbul maybe in September

And then maybe a long weekend to Krakow in December. I was going to go this December but can't really justify it with my finances atm

ExecutiveFiat · 15/09/2019 12:45

Sjane, ah the joys of teenagers and holiday romance😀 Grey, been to Amsterdam numerous times. Never get tired of it!. We went to Krakow earlier in the year. Fab place. Been before and we’ll be going back again.

So are easyJet flights usually cheaper when first released? I have my 50th coming up and it would be lovely to get away somewhere new.
Ds desperate to go to America but I think we'd be looking at a lottery win for what he wants to do!

zafferana · 16/09/2019 09:34

Yes @Hopesorfears, I think so. As I understand it, Easyjet release tranches of tickets at different prices, starting low and then once those have sold, another batch for a slightly higher price, getting higher the closer you get to the date of departure. I always try to book as soon as they're released, if i can.

If you want to look at prices to America, Norwegian have a seat sale on at the moment. Do compare prices though using Kayak and Skyscanner and if you can be flexible on dates you can get better prices. If you're stuck with school holidays then yes, going to the USA can be very expensive, particularly if you want to spend time in the big cities.

Hopesorfears · 16/09/2019 09:58

Ah thanks for that. We are stuck to the holidays unfortunately - I think will be sitting up on Wed (?) night to get a bargain - hope I don't end up with some completely random, panic-bought flight! Grin

SJane48S · 16/09/2019 10:14

The Norwegian flight sale for anyone looking at that ends today - it covers all their routes which includes Europe and America. Virgin Atlantic also have a sale on (NY from £272 return) - no idea when this ends!

TheCanterburyWhales · 16/09/2019 10:20

Hopes- never say never! I snagged a return flight for dd and I to Madrid including luggage for £115 and we had a fab time despite me going "wtf have I done that for" for months!

TheCanterburyWhales · 19/09/2019 12:51

Just bumping this to say the easyJet tickets have gone live.
(though what I wanted is cheaper slightly and with better flight times on BA)

ExecutiveFiat · 19/09/2019 13:54

I booked my flights for next April and June this morning at 8am. Managed to get good prices for both. Neither were in school holidays.

Did anyone else any bargains?

We are going to Australia at the end of January. nothing else booked for next year as we are moving in the summer.
this year we have been to Australia, KL, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam and am going to Bhutan in October.

TheCanterburyWhales · 19/09/2019 16:36

I am narked with BA as it was Copenhagen with them that was cheaper than Easyjet albeit by a tenner but payment kept not going through and saying "error". I rang, and they said to keep trying or ring them back later. I might end up paying the extra tenner and using Easyjet. Humph.

Hopesorfears · 19/09/2019 21:55

Well I don't know if they were bargains but have booked two lots of flights! Smile
