Passport signing

I’m applying for my first adult passport and struggling to find someone to sign my photo and form.. I asked if someone who worked in the raf could do it and was told they had to be an officer, he’s not an officer but has worked in the raf a long time, would this be ok? I’ve seen the list which is said to be professions and don’t have anybody else

Who did you ask if someone in the RAF could do it? The passport office?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 26/07/2019 21:33

What does he do in the RAF? Is he officer rank or above?

youngestisapsycho · 26/07/2019 21:34

As long as they hold a uk passport it will probably be fine... I’ve signed passport forms and I’m not any of the ‘listed’ people to sign!

dementedpixie · 26/07/2019 21:37

It can be a professional or someone of good standing in the community. Do you know any small business owners? My neighbour is a nurse and did ours in the past

dementedpixie · 26/07/2019 21:37

What job do you do? Could a colleague do it?

Annie9112 · 26/07/2019 22:19

I think it is to do with the engineering side of things he isn’t a officer or above ...

OP posts:
Annie9112 · 26/07/2019 22:20

I don’t unfortunately. He is the only person I could think of that came close to the criteria

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 26/07/2019 22:20

Neighbours? Friends of the family?

Annie9112 · 26/07/2019 22:21

Yeah the passport office, they said he had to be an officer but this guy I know has said he has signed peoples passports before so I’m hoping itll be ok

OP posts:
Annie9112 · 26/07/2019 22:22

No one who has one of the listed progressions. My brother in law is in the army but not back for another few months and needing ASAP.

MrsMop7 · 26/07/2019 22:24

Huh? The passport said it had to be an officer but you are asking if this person you know, who is not an officer, can sign?

HeddaGarbled · 26/07/2019 22:37

It’s snobby bollocks, isn’t it? Why is an RAF officer OK but an RAF engineer not? If he says he’s signed them before, I’d go with him. Presumably he is “of good standing in the community” so fulfills the requirements in that respect.

Annie9112 · 26/07/2019 22:40

I asked the person before I asked the passport office. He said he has signed before if you read it properly

MrsMop7 · 26/07/2019 23:03

I DID read it properly Hmm

You asked the passport office who told you it had to be an officer. You then, later, posted on here asking if it would be ok for this person who is NOT an officer to sign.

Annie9112 · 26/07/2019 23:07

Why are you coming onto the thread to try trip me up haha? I was originally asking if people thought this would be ok as a lot of people have claimed to of signed passports without being on the list. If you’re that bored with your night go watch some paint dry as your comments are not appreciated here and not helping in any way.

OP posts:
MrsMop7 · 26/07/2019 23:08

Well you are a delight, aren't you?

HeddaGarbled · 26/07/2019 23:18

I think OP is frustrated that you seem to be posting just to have a pop at her, when what she is seeking is advice or the benefit of experience.

MrsMop7 · 26/07/2019 23:21

I wasn't. I was pointing out the very simple fact that she had already been told no.

If anyone was having a 'pop' it sure as hell wasn't me.

Pipandmum · 26/07/2019 23:24

Can’t tell you about your RAF contact but I’ve had passports countersigned by headmaster at school, matron from school, bank manager and a solicitor I knew for a couple years.

Annie9112 · 26/07/2019 23:24

ok and as I have just said, other people are claiming to of signed passports when they are not on the list and he also said he has signed passports before. So I was asking if people thought it would be ok going on them facts alone.

OP posts:
Annie9112 · 26/07/2019 23:25

Well you’re certainly not. I was asking for advice not someone trying to act clever.

RubberTreePlant · 26/07/2019 23:27

Be quiet @MrsMop7 you're not helping.

OP if you're a bit stuck for alternatives, and he's done it before, without issues, i'd go for it.

MrsMop7 · 26/07/2019 23:29

@RubberTreePlant

I was saying no, because the passport office said no; that's all.

I wasn't trying to create this shit, but at the same time I am not going to sit back and get slated.

RubberTreePlant · 26/07/2019 23:32

She KNOWS they said 'no' @MrsMop7

That's part of her dilemma.
