Here's my list of wishes! Where can we go on holiday? MEGA fussy!

So I usually 'travel Europe on the internet' spending massive amounts of time trying to find somewhere to go on holiday in fact, I'd be happy at home but DP likes to go away.

Anyway mega fussy me would like...

~Smart, stunning hotel - definitely no dark wood or orange pine ...or flowered bedspreads

~Preferably adult only - --like kids but work with them and need to....hide

~Open, relaxed - --don't really like hotels...but DP does...I feel institutionalised...like I'm at school

~Near a beach - perhaps

~Walking distance to the local town --love the idea of laying on a sun bed all day but get bored after 10 mins

~Short plane ride - 2-3 hours max scared of flying or boat journey

~Unusual, interesting, charming --definitely not 'Brits abroad'

~Not mega bucks - last nice hotel I found was £905...not bad, I thought...until I realised it was per night!

~Bed and breakfast or SC not AL, too much like school dinners

~Sunshine

Does this place really exist...I said I was fussy.

Would really appreciate your ideas! Thanks!

Try
Memmo baleeira in sagres you’ll be better with a hire car to get about but flights will be easy.

Or; hospes amerigo in Alicante there will be kids around the local area but it’s not a very kid friendly hotel...

sansou has to be school holidays, we can't take holidays in term time, unfortunately.

Ha, to Benidorm , though I believe the old town is nice. Salou for a night, (checked out early) was bad enough!

Not sure if the wood meets your specifications but it’s lovely here -www.bikini-hotels.com/hotel/

Drat - the link won’t work - it’s the one in Port de Soller , Mallorca . I have been to the resort for the past 3 years , only been to the hotel for a drink but it’s lovely . We are going there at October half term for a few days .

I’d suggest Italy. Either the lakes, Tuscany or Sorrento/Amalfi/Positano.

MarniLou · 29/05/2019 20:25

Thanks ella, yes I've looked at that one, very interesting a hotel and a nice part of Majorca.

We went to the northern part of Tenerife in October. It was beautiful. We stayed in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. La Laguna was stunning, as were the Anaga Mountains. The hotel had a pool and there was a nice beach a 15 minute drive away (we didn't go there though). There wasn't a ton of tourists as that side of the island tends to get more rain.

South of France? Very relaxing, easy to get to and lots to do..

limitedscreentime · 31/05/2019 22:08

I was going to say amalfi or spain too - we stayed in a hotel in amalfi almost right on the beach (bottom of the hill) - think it was a b&b but very relaxed, rooftop terrace for brekkie. Car a good idea to go to Vesuvius/Herculaneum/Pompeii etc but otherwise beautiful to walk around. Not sure I could do a whole week there though......

Or hop through Spanish mountain villages - we stayed at hotel de giraldo in Cuenca, beautiful, relaxed, no pool but we're not the sitting still type (or bothered about swimming!) - again need a car and would only do a nightmare or two but so many beautiful relaxed places in spain to visit. Prices are reasonable too.

Closer to home is Bruges - full of amazing places to stay....

A night there or two...... no nightmares had! The beds were very comfy and slept like logs!
