Your favourite ever city break

We're lucky enough to have enjoyed a number of city breaks since children were old enough to be left at home. Looking for ideas for more unusual places to visit. As it's just for a weekend, don't want particularly long flights - max 3 hours pref less.
We've been to: Paris; Berlin; Munich; Frankfurt; Vienna; Innsbruck; Marrakesh; Prague; Budapest; Lisbon; Dubrovnik; Split

On the list already are: Bruges; Amsterdam; Milan; Seville; Bilbao; Madrid; Carcassonne; Krakow

Where have you visited that you'd strongly recommend as a werkend destination? Apologies in advance if I say we've already been somewhere you suggest, I've not listed the places we've visited on summer holidays

Palermo in Sicily was joyful. Thought it would be a bit scary but it wasn't at all. Lots to see, lots of amazing food, and a fantastic beach just a bus ride away.
And not a city break as such but we once did a 4 night road trip in Andalucia. Flew into Malaga. Drove to Nerja for 2 nights and beach day, then on to Granada to visit the Alhambra and watch flamenco, then we drove to Ronda for our last night which was incredibly beautiful. We then drove over the mountains to Marbella for lunch and back to the airport. It was a perfect little adventure.

So many good ideas here. I second Malaga and Hamburg. Also Puglia area of Italy - Lecce is lovely and just a short hop from Brindisi.

Milan also interesting.

Porto was wonderful - we went in April. Glorious weather (chilly at night as sky so clear), amazing walks, views, food and wine (Port Tonics were a revelation) and it felt like a really safe, friendly city. We loved to walk across the Dom Luís bridge in the evening to sit in one of the many fab bars in Gaia looking back to the twinkling Porto lights - and the restaurants and bars that side of the river give you even more bang for your buck.

Venice in the Autumn was magical - we stayed in Cannaregio and the bars and restaurants were divine. We walked and walked the city - it is like nowhere else I've been. Incredibly beautiful. Get up early to see the sunrise, take as many different turns as you can - magical place.

Probably my favourite because I love cold climates was Reykjavik but I'd say go for a good few days - we went for 6 and still felt there was more to explore if you love nature and walking. We planned it for a good year in advance as it is expensive and wanted to cram in as much as possible and save some £ so we could do whatever took our fancy.

Copenhagen was just delightful - went in the summer, weather was fabulous, friendly, safe city with loads to do on foot or by bike and long, long days to explore.

We love city breaks and have been on loads over the years and loved them all for different reasons. I always research the place and have a loose itinerary of interesting places / bars / restaurants which saves wasting time when you're there.

We loved:
Rome
Florence
Venice
Verona
Berlin
Hamburg
Frankfurt
Prague
Krakow
Budapest
Paris
Lyon
Nice
Montpellier
Barcelona
Palma
Lisbon
London
Liverpool (we don't live in UK)
Glasgow
Edinburgh
Amsterdam
Bruges
Ghent

Nothing beats a great city break for me!
