Where would you recommend? Family of 4 with two senior school aged children. Christmas treat but doesn’t have to be Christmassy. Temps that are hot (25ish) but not humid. Clean and luxurious 5* with really good pool.

Place marking. I'm fed up of grey and cold

Thank you. Have any of you stayed anywhere you would specifically recommend in these countries?

Dubai?, we went for a week in January about 3 years ago, stayed in a fabulous hotel on the Palm - Jumeirah Sabeel Zaray but the Jumeirah Beach Club on the other side would suit your teenagers better as there is a water park on site.

We loved Antigua in December

CarolDanvers · 06/01/2019 00:45

Abu Dhabi or Dubai. They're not popular on here but if you're looking for a luxurious and fabulous holiday, they really do tick the boxes.

minipie · 06/01/2019 00:47

Mauritius. Try Lux resorts.

QueenOfIce · 06/01/2019 06:07

Maldives! Have been many times and I'm not someone who likes to repeat holidays but it's still one of my favourites. Depends if you want a relaxing holiday or a 'doing' holiday.

We hired a crewed yacht in the British Virgin Islands. This is brilliant. There are also 5 * hotels on Virgin Gorda or smaller islands that are wonderful. We liked the idea of visiting a variety of islands and lots of the boats have plenty of “toys” for use by guests.

Andaman resort in Langkawi or Shangri La Rasa Sayang resort in Penang.

Belize is fantastic. have a look at the tourist board website. or I can message you a trip report.

TheSandgroper · 30/04/2019 12:38

Perth. Non stop LHR-PER. Guaranteed sunshine and the west coast of Aus is low humidity.

Third Oman - Muscat’s one of the more interesting cities in the region & still has quite a bit of its history. Take trips out to see the mountains & wadis & forts. The coastline at Muscat has good beaches, snorkelling and diving. You’ll find a range of hotels from decent to indecently upmarket! If you like shopping & high rise buildings go to Dubai or Abu Dhabi but to be honest, having lived in Dubai they did & do absolutely nothing for me (but that’s just personal opinion!)

Sorry to hijack, but @BubblesBuddy omg that sounds amazing! Do you have any links (and how much did it cost?)??

BubblesBuddy · 03/05/2019 11:31

I’m so sorry. I have only just noticed this question!

We went a while ago so exchange rate now comparatively dire! However you should be looking at around £10,000 a week for a crewed yacht. This will entirely depend when you go and Easter is better value. We had one that slept 4 and obviously it’s more expensive (a lot more) the bigger and more luxurious you go.

Fly to Antigua then on to Tortola. Most BVI yachts go out of Tortola. I’m really not sure how Tortola has recovered after the hurricane but specialist BVI companies will know. Also, I can definitely say this is more fun for teens and children than a 5 star hotel. No destination is more then a 2 hour sail. The cheaper yachts won’t have luxurious cabins but the variety of beaches, swimming opportunities and lovely moorings with great food cooked by your hosts, really does mean it’s a special holiday.

Hawaii

Onatreebyariver · 05/05/2019 15:11

Antigua. We stayed at blue waters and loved it.

Chedi in Muscat is very lux - visited friends when we were staying at the still quite nice but bit tired Intecontinental ( they were doing big refurb last year so probably not as tired at all now) - Intercontinental has v nice pool area.

GiantKitten · 05/05/2019 16:38

For the last couple of summers (ie December) Perth has had some very torrid weather, so if you only want a nice warm 25 I wouldn’t go there!

What's your budget op?

edgeofheaven · 06/05/2019 04:48

I second Mexico - Cancun/Riveria Maya. We had great weather in the Dominican Republic at the end of November so that's another good option.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 06/05/2019 05:41

I’ve stayed at The Chedi and Zighy Bay in Oman. And Al Maha in Dubai.

I’d really like to try Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar in Oman.

Praslin island in the Seychelles. I wouldn't go 5* in the Seychelles as all of the beaches have public access anyway so you wouldn't get a better beach etc for your money, and the handsdown "best" beaches on Praslin don't have a hotel attached to them anyway. The Raffles beach is very below par for the island, for example, and whilst the beach at the Constance Lumia was nice anyone can just get a free reservation and I wouldn't want to feel like I always had to use that beach.

If you're set on 5 hotels then somewhere like Grenada could work as you've also got a good infrastructure of public buses for when you need to get out of the resort unlike the other Caribbean islands, or obviously taxis. With Belize it depends where you go as it didn't feel that developed and we didn't see any 5 hotels at all when we were there and we travelled the mainland extensively, although we didn't go to the islands.

Dubai is your obvious easy 5* destination that ticks your boxes though, but likely to be more expensive.
